everything - Axel Hotel Guldsmeden is just like a hotel should be: comfortable, cosy, based on a set of values which are clear, based on an eco-friendly way of living, good food, clean etc etc etc. Very good hotel. We stayed in a Superior Double room, and it was lovely - really comfortable, nicely finished. All good. Breakfasts good too. Fantastic hotel! Stands out among all hotels I've stayed at on my business trips. Very pleasant atmosphere.

The bathroom was small with the floor outside the shower getting very wet. The hotel is in an "edgy" area so explaining about drugs to our 8 year old when syringes were seen on the ground and people were taking them on the street was interesting.Room was small but I expected this from booking details. Television sited very oddly. rooms are rather small, corridors narrow, use of wellness center very expensive, prostitutes in neighborhood. The location is very convenient, but in a mixed area. - room is quite small. bathroom shower tends to flood. Duvets were too hot. Because there was no air condition in the room, we had to leave the window open through the night.the bunk style bed is very short and narrow, for tall people, very difficult to get a good night´s sleep in. tv set is so high on the wall in the narrow room, that you cannot watch it properly. please select a normal size room. bedroom a little small and no tool for boiling hotwater ( you need to go downstairs in kitchen to get hot water and can not make it in you room). Too small and buzy elevator. The public spaces on the reception floor were crowded with too much furniture and when lots of people were present it felt crowded.Food too expensive (dinner and breakfast). Breakfast should be included in price. Bad location (central, but on the wrong side of the central station - it's in the red light district - great for bachelors, the Bunny bar is right outside the door!!! ;-). Charge for use of credit card transactions. The room is somewhat a little bit small. And internet will charge more 20 DKK per day, which is different from the website introduction.

Axel blends traditional Balinese style with modern art – teak four-poster beds, small balconies combined with Persian rugs on the wooden floors, original art on the walls and modern technology such as flat-screen TVs, DVD players and internet access (charges apply).

AXEL will, in addition to its 129 rooms and penthouse suites, also include fully equipped conference facilities.

The concept for the Guldsmeden hotels is unique, and a very important feature is the focus on organic products. In all rooms you will find Guldsmeden's own manufactured organic shampoo and cream products.

Organic spa products
We do not have a regime of specific treatments, but have developed a wide range of fully organic spa products, including relaxing, detoxing or energizing salt, sugar and coffee scrubs, body & face oils and sprays, face & body cream and shampoos. We have been helped and inspired by natural health and beauty coach Charlotte Rachlin.

Facilities
AXEL Hotel Guldsmedens classical urban spa, in the signature Balinese-inspired Guldsmeden design includes a sauna, cold and hot tubs, steam bath with essential oils and meditation/yoga area.

Relaxation
As of Wednesday, May 7th, we will Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 17.00-17.45 and from 18.00-18.45, be offering open relaxation and stretching periods under the guidance of an experienced instructor.

We serve organic fruit juices, tea and fresh & dried fruit.

You do not need to book in advance – you are free to enjoy this oasis at your own leisure and convenience.

Price:
225,- per person. The price includes full use of the spa facilities and products for a full day, subject to opening hours. Ask at the reception.

Useful information:
All guests are required to wear bathing suits. Swimwear can be purchased at reception, price 150 DKK for one-size shorts or two-piece bikini.
Guests need to change in their rooms before entering the spa, housecoats and slippers are available in the room, towels can be found in the spa.

Vesterbro - the former red light district:
During the last 10 years Vesterbro has undergone a massive transformation and is no longer the bad neighbourhood where it was not entirely safe to go at night. Instead it is now an attractive and fashionable place to live and hang out.

Hang out at Halmtorvet:
On Halmtorvet, a former red light district in Copenhagen, a number of cafes and restaurants have opened during the last years and during summertime the sidewalks are crowded with tables of people sipping coffee.

Hip boutiques with unique clothing on Vesterbro:
Vesterbro, Copenhagen's former working class district, has become one of the city's most hip areas. The far end of Istedgade is a must for those seeking unusual fashion design. Many up-and-coming designers of clothing have established themselves with interesting boutiques and workrooms in the back. Parallel Vesterbrogade follows up with a number of good specialist shops.

Travelling information

By Car:
- From the City Hall Square simply follow Vesterbrogade.
- Turn left on to Reventlowsgade.
- Turn right on to Istegade and Helgolandsgade (one-way street) is the 2nd right.

By Bus:
From the City Hall Square you can catch bus number 6A, which will take you directly to the hotel (2 stops to Helgolandsgade).

From Copenhagen Airport (10 km):
Take a taxi from the airport or you can catch the train to Copenhagen Central Station. The journey takes about 15 minutes.

Walk directly to Axel using Istegade exit at the station. The walk takes approximately 5 minutes.
