The location is perfect for visiting the Old Town of Split by foot and even more. And what a joy to live inside the walls of Diocletian's Palace: good facilities, very calm (in February), beautiful view on the city square. We enjoyed the very big old terrace just 2 metters under the clock tower of Split, a real privilege for the morning coffee. Shopping, beach, museums, good restaurants, all near! Our kids loved it. all reviews » My cousins and I could not have been happier with the accommodations and especially the location. I have been to Split many times and have in the past always stayed in hotels. This was my first experience with an "apartment" type of accommodation. I loved loved loved the patio for late evening relaxation and people watching. Everything was like new and very clean. Both Antonia and Robi were wonderful and were very helpful in making our stay one to remember. The apartment was a very nice size for 4 adults and magnificently located just outside the western wall of the palace at the Iron Gate. The terrace was amazing and spacious with a nice view of the square and a beautiful Romanesque house tower with Gothic belfry and Renaissance 24 hour clock adjoining the terrace. No bells ringing thankfully. Very charming and full of history. A great location to explore the palace and return to wonderful accommodations. The apartment was great in its authenticity. The balcony was a real delight as too was the layout of the apartment. Antonia was wonderful!! She couldn't do enough to help us. She drove with us to find us free parking near the apartment, and recommended a wonderful restaurant - ... something Jose. The location was perfect too - just a short, easy walk into the old town; and we loved "living" in amongst the locals. Apartment clean, right in old city 2minute walk to palace that is full of restaurants and shops and little bars. Reception on arrival excellent and offered maps, key points of must do and arranged porter pick up at the end of stay, her mobile number if we needed anything. Highly recommend this property. Antonia was excellent and offered all assistance. Felt we had a great contact if we needed help. Very friendly welcome from the owner who took the time to recommend places to visit and decent restaurants as we were only in Split for an evening. Great location- a bit difficult to find but once you do, it's very easy to get into the centre Had everything we needed- decent value for money and nice bathroom. Didn't cook while we were there but seemed like there was everything we needed. Location is excellent Beds are comfortable Patio was great New wine bar opened around the corner ... Zinfandel. Serves ham and cheese etc. Friendly staff, great coffee, nice for going local, getting out of the sun and watching the tourists rush by. Fyi - There is a little juice bar/restaurant below on the right of the square, food was good and reasonably priced. The room is modern and well equipped. Location was great, 8 min walk to the best beach in town and similar to the old town and harbour. Antonia was very helpful and nice. To sit on the stair at the Diocletian palads listening to music in the evening is an experience we will never forget. Split was an enjoyable experience. This room was great and good value for money. Very clean and cosy and it was also quite large. The owner was lovely, very friendly and helpful. It's also in a great location and walking distance to everything including buses, trains, ferries and main attractions but still tucked away down a quiet street. Highly recommend. The Villa Spaladium was amazing. The location was fantastic and the room was beautiful - loved the stone walls! Antonia met me as I did not know exactly where the apartment was located so that made it 100 times easier. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone travelling to Split. Villa Spalladium really suited our visit to Split. It is in a great location close to Diocletian's Palace. The two rooms were very good for our party and were ultra clean with all conveniences. Antonia was wonderfully helpful and friendly, even arranging transfers for us. There was a lot of room. It was very clean and the women that met us was helpful. She supplied maps, food information, and met us at the door with the keys even though we were two hours late due to road construction. We will definitely stay again when we go back. Antonia was very nice. When we arrived she prepared everything (places were we could go, places were to eat, places were to dance). She was very helpfull. The appartment is near everything such as the Diocletian's Palace and the beach. They emailed us a couple of days before we arrived and offered to pick us up from airport. the people who run the accommodation are very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are modern and very clean, would definitely stay there again!. The apartment is clean and comfortable and in a quiet street in a great location a few minutes walk from the palace. Best location, but it was a bit difficult to finds. Lovely verandah with clock tower just above. Location and cost. The accomodation is nice, modern at the ground floor of an old building. The young lady is adequate but businesslike, espacialy about the other location of the rooms. Great location, minutes to the city center. the terrasse. We had a little trouble figuring out the stove and microwave, as they are very different from US models. Also, if you are a light sleeper, the chiming of the clock in the square above the patio can be a bit much since they do chime on the half hour. There truly was nothing that was unsatisfactory. I would highly recommend this apartment, but for 2 people. It was too small for our family of 4; it could, at a push, accommodate 3 people; but would be just perfect for 2. When staying in old city area streets are narrow and taxi can't get directly to most hotel accommodation. We were unaware you either have to walk or take a porter to carry bags on a flat top trolley when you disembark from ferry. Porters are very cheap but you need to know what to expect when you arrive. TV not easy to operate and could not get English channels. The only thing we could think of was bigger towels as the ones provided didn't really cover much! Other than that couldn't fault it!. The clock tower is above the bedroom... It rang every hour on the hour and half hour... And 3 minutes immediately thereafter. Our first night was sleepless. The second night was ok. Recommend earplugs :) this may not be an issue during the "tourist season" as apparently the owners can request that the city hall stop the clock during the night. In our party of 4, 2 would return to this rental, 2 would prefer to try another location. The room at Petrova Street 36 is on the ground floor which made it a bit noisy. Earplugs saved my second night :-). A little bit hard to find at first but the owner had courteously sent us directions as soon as we booked but we didn't see the email. So nothing bad to say really!. Nothing. One evening there was a little bit of noise from a nearby hostel, but not really a problem. There was no hot water in the shower. It started hot for about 2 minutes on the first shower. Then we couldn't get it back again, even the next morning. I am sure this is easily fixed and would not deter us from staying again so long as it was taken care of. Nothing!. The only thing is to make sure before if you will have view to de outside... or anything at all... How it was much easier to communicate with staff if you had a phone. Not easy to find when we arrived at bus station - could provide a map. It wasn't far to walk - just hard to find. My car was parked in the street but got hit by some idiot. Better go for the paying parking. Shower went cold fast (even when the hot-switch was turned on all night). The apartment was not child-friendly at all. We have twin two year olds and found this apartment quite dangerous for them between the balcony that connects the living and bedrooms and the exposed staircase in the kitchen. Families with children under 5 should absolutely not stay here. Hard to find with sat nav. Claustrophobic apartment with no outside view. Very noisy for the clock tower bell. Every hour you can hear the big bell noise. That was a dark side opinion. Except bell noise, it was very good!. Q Bed bit firm. Would be good to have washing machine. The site was NOT clear about the other location of the rooms. It was not in the villa but at another location. The beach is horrible. You can reach it over the rails and a dirty part of the city. The sandy beach is crowded and dirty. This is just a flat. Too expensive. The kitchen equipment was very poor. Much was either broken or mission. The cabinet for clothes was broken. Also I find It to expensive.
