Like others, I also enjoyed my 7-day stay at Paramount Gallery. The hotel starts on the 12th floor (front desk) and goes upward. The hotel ambiance was great. Spacious and quiet compare to the exterior hustle and bustle of Shanghai. The staff were friendly and guests were a mix of foreigners and domestic travelers. The hotel is situated in busy JingAn district with easy access to the park, temple, major shopping plaza, tons of food court / restaurants, and Metro Line 2 (direct route to PuDong A.
all reviews » Great position in Shanghai center, 50 m from Jing'an Temple metro station with lines 2 (taking you directly to both airports and main tourist attractions) and 7 (directly to Shanghai New Exhibition Place) Many shopping, eating and night life in surrounding area. The only downside is the facility - they do have meeting rooms, restaurant etc, but they don't have facility like swimming pool or spa. However, this is still fair supposing it's a hotel sitting in the city centre. I always like a continental breakfast with Muesli, fresh fruit, or fruit salad and perhaps a Croissant but had to do with All Bran every day which was pretty boring. The Croissants were the size of a biscuit and pretty unappetising looking. Lots of other stuff if you like a hot breakfast. Not really a place to hang out in, bar very small and part of the breakfast room/restaurant. A heads up before booking about the soft opening hours would have been nice, but the letter in the room was good. There should be more western style food in the morning, like poached eggs, and freshly prepared pancakes. The restaurant closed too early to have a relaxed dinner after a normal working day. The exercice equipment was rather limited. I had to leave before the normal breakfast time on the last day, and the reception staff could have found a solution for providing me with breakfast. I even paid for it. This was a turn-off and left me with a more negative impression than the hotel really deserved. The hotel entrance is not clear and is actually belong to a commercial building. The entrance is dark. Breakfast is not very attractive and simple. All was great - no complaints. Hair was seen at the bed headboard. Cleanliness can be improved. Breakfast is a bit simple. Entrance at street level smelled bad (it is a common entrance to the building, the hotel lobby is on a high floor The gym smelled like cigarette smoke the first day I went to work out The staff's English was generally very poor which made them somewhat unhelpful; for example I asked them for help finding a Citibank branch and they couldn't understand. I asked for a toothbrush and probably wouldn't have gotten that either except for extensive teeth brush motions. It has not 5 star qualification, missing to many items. The hotel starts at f12 only and the entrance at f1 is difficult to find from the street and the impression is one of bankrupcy. Only 1 restaurant belongs to the hotel, the one at f12, the others are not, although indicated as such in the hotel directory. Not at this moment. To identify the hotel a little difficult for the reception is on the 12th floor. If windows were cleaner, would be too perfect ! Entrance from the street is not easy to be found. Unmarked entrance. Several "staff" (or were they?) at the entrance but of no help whatsoever. Reception on the 12th floor so you have to struggle with bags as no assistance or welcome. I wouldn't stay here again as there is plenty of choice at this quality & price. nothing. Not sufficient variety of fruit for breakfast. No MP3 connection in the room. Bar shut at 5pm. Combined reception area at ground floor is a bit of a mess although there was usually someone from the hotel to help navigate. Breakfast staff were a bit slow in clearing up to free tables. Fitness room is basic. signage of hotel is 'not very visible, few of my business visitors complained "hard to find the enterance "but is 'oposite the Jing'an temple & Jing'an subway is under the temple. Restaurant under refurbishing and with limiter ours. a little bit old facilities..?. it seems have been renovated recently，room smell... Aircon was off when it was still not too cold when we were there. They couldn't do anything to it & we ended up having a fan! TV channels mostly Chinese with only few English ones, we mentioned this on check out and they promised to look into it, otherwise excellent hotel. I will definitely recommend it and will go again if in Shanghai!. so far none. The breakfast could be a little better but is still ok. Lack information about good restaurants in the area. The filters on the pictures here make it very deceiving. I was disappointed a lot when I walked into my room. I would recommend looking at their official website for the pictures withOUT filters before you book to better manage your expectation!. The gym is very small for a hotel of this size with no TVs or exercise mats like you would normally expect from this standard of hotel. Wifi signal is close to nothing in my room. Water leakage around the bathtub. The toilet floor went completely wet after showering. dirty couch, no reception groundfloor, a bit doggy...
