Extremely friendly and helpful staff, having a 24h reception is very convenient for late check-ins and early check-outs. Location is within walking distance to Dong Si train station, which is just stops away from key attractions such as Tian An Men, Forbidden Palace, WangFuJing street etc. I would highly recommend a visit to NanLuoGuXiang - a beautiful place with lots to see, eat and buy. By the way, the hostel serves a good cup of Mocha! Overall, Happy Dragon Hostel is value for money for budg.
all reviews » Excellent customer service. Reception and bar staff speak excellent English and go out of their way to help you. Trip to Mutianyu was excellent value for money and despite being stuck in a traffic jam was a fantastic day out. The hostel is an easy 5 min walk from the Dongsi metro station. Very easy to find. Don't be put off by comments which say it's hard to find. The staffs speak English and they are very friendly compared to other Chinese people. The location is great! Near the bus stops, near the subway station, and there's a morning market right outside the hostel. There are also restaurants near by (the people in restaurants don't speak English). The room is clean and I have had no problems at all while staying there. Staff there is really helpful and nice. I was in a single room, it is not a 5 stars hotel -not supposed to be though- but for an hostel what u get is really worth the money you pay. Hostel is located in a central area near subway, lively street (with shops, restaurants..) as well as hutongs. The staff was extremely helpful. They guided me exactly to the tourist points where I wanted to go. They had great breakfast but you should get cny 20 breakfast when booking because it is little expensive when you don't have breakfast already. They also clean your room everyday. The staff are excellent and really helpful. They speak English very well. The location is very close to Dongzi station and easy to find. This hostel also offers a trip to the Great Wall. I took the one to Mutianyu, and it was worth of money (280 RMB). Place was cool. I met some cool ppl who were staying in the same dorm. Staff is helpful and their English is perfect. The small bar/kitchen was providing nice meals for affordable prices. We had a double room for a reasonable price, everything was pretty clean and all rooms (also dorms) have an own bathroom. There was some nice early morning market outside the hostel... Location. The personnel speak english, and there is a bar inside the hostel. Not all taxi drivers know how to reach the location - however, one is a call away to ask staff from the hostel to help with the directions over the phone. The street is not very well-lighted at night and could be quite dangerous to walk alone. They make the bed but they don't change the bed sheets nor the towels. So for those who tend to make a mess with your towels, be careful. I arrived around midday so it was not difficult to find the place however I have to say that by arriving at dark I would have has some difficulties in spotting the street, and I would have felt a bit unconfortable due to the environment. I can tell anyway that it is really safe even if it does look like at dark. The hostel website is not up to date (for instance bike tour is hutongs is no longer proposed). Private room and washroom are small. The bathroom is very small, but at least you can use it for your own :). Wi-fi ain`t that good and they should work on that thing more. It could me more clean, just a bit more. The free parties as announced on the website and posters in the hostels were all cancelled or non-exisisting. Loud noises at night from machines. Be sure to pack your earplugs!. Language barrier.sometimes volume of water in shower are small. The staff would not take a reservation directly. Told me that no rooms were available. But was able to book online regardless... Extremely small toilet - shower is right in front of the toilet bowl. Young backpackers can be very noisy and the thin walls do not help. It is a bit noisy, especially because of the morning market and the back street it is on is a bit dark at night but it is still a very good choice for budget travelers. Little bit old rooms and sometimes noisy. The location is hidden away, and can be difficult to find. Not so easy to find, the taxi driver had to call the hostel twice to find the place. Bathroom is quite uncomfortable, but it's good, if to take in account the price of room I've chosen)). electrical installations in the rooms are very ugly and broadcast television in the room was not much. The ventilation rooms, could be better. A little niosy at midnight. Very difficult to find it. I spend 30 minutes to find it from the closest subway station about 400 meters away. (I speak Chinese) Better come by TAXI, the driver will call them to locate the hostel. Very noisy at night. Particularly my bedroom that was near the bar. The room was cold, especially the floor, bad wifi coverage in the room. Could not find for half an hour. The bar/common area was small and uninviting. I booked a single person room and when I got there, no single room was available. I had to go for a 2 people bedroom Rooms confort is limited You can hear all the neighborhood discussions or fights as well as corridor noices. My wife and I had booked a double room in advance. When we arrived, they had my name and were expecting us, everything was all right. At that point they realized they did not have a room for us, and we had to sleep in bunk beds in a dormitory for the first night. They did not do any goodwill gesture to apologize for that. bed was very hard. The toilet have a horrible smell, have to change the drain. The bad is hard and not regular. They do not clean the room everyday, only put more toilet paper and took out the garbage. We went in winter.. the room was cold. There was not heatting. The staff was not that much friendly... facilities run down without any maintenance. The bathroom stinked. One of the towels was torned in the visible part but they didn't changed it. The laundry service left our clothes full of soap. The rooms were noisy, and the lights in the corridor sometimes stopped working. Our friends' bathroom didn't worked. Not very accesible from Metro or Taxi (it was difficult to find).
