The staff was very friendly and helpful. The had great recommendations, was very detailed with directions/maps and also were fluent in English. While it's not the newest hotel (not luxury) the bed was very comfortable, the rooms large and the pool/hot tub very nice. The location was also wonderful. Notre Dame is a few blocks away as well as Old Montreal. St. Catherine st and it's shopping was also walking distant.
all reviews » After tired of eating hamburgers we found ourselves in the hotel within very short walking distance to restaurants in China Town. This is the big advantage if you have a Chinese stomach. The location is excellent, within walking distance to Via station, airport shuttle buses, old town, cruise terminal and lots of churches. Two queen beds room is very large. When reading the reviews, I was a bit hesitant but after we got there, we were happy with our room. Some people say it's dated but I don't really care if it needs an refresh, I'm there to sleep! As long as my bed is clean and comfortable and there's hot water, I'm happy. People can be very picky for small things... The staff were friendly, helpful, patient. Very very nice. Breakfast was very pleasant with a simple choice of fruits, breads, yogurts, cheeses, eggs, bacon and even oatmeal. Very pleasant service I was right in front of the Palace de Congress wher my conference was. The location was great ,only a few blocks either way to the old port or to the shopping malls downtown. Even though parking was expensive you could stay until 6pm after you check out.The lobby with its chinese koi pond is beautiful. Everything is excellent, location is perfect - near the old Montreal, stuff is good, towels are clean, rooms are clean, coffee/tea makers are in rooms, gift shop on the ground floor, taxi parking beside the hotel. The Hotel's location is near a station which you can move to anywhere, the staff were very helpful and kind, the breakfast was delicious and love the lobby, very different and inspired by China. The 3 streets that make out for 'China town' are very dirty which is in sharp contrast with the cleanness of the hotel. I am certain that the hotel can and should use it's importance and influence to convince the China Town Council to assure clean streets during all days. There is no fridge or safety box in the room. Parking's too expensive -$27/day (tax incl). Breakfast buffet's tasteless. It should be noted that the front of the hotel and parking is on St Urbain if you come down viger you can't make a turn since it is one way. You have to go around 3 -4 blocks to get to the parking lot. Parking a bit expensive. However at the restaurant of the hotel it would help if the staff would actually smile to their customers. It is a very small thing to do to make us fell welcomed. Next time I have business in Montreal, will probably not eat on site do to that. Sorry. No breakfast inclded in rate. I always book a hotel with pool for grand-daughter...it did not appear too clean...also had to walk through gym to get to pool. Limited menu at restaurant. Rooms needed updating. Annoying advertising on tv kept sliding onto screen. I felt the staff looked out more for their own then the customer. No real sense of putting the guest first. It's almost like you're here, okay. The hotel was not so clean. The decoration was old and dark. There was no refrigerator and safe in the room. More like a Chinese hotel as it is located in china town with the smell of Chinese food. Pool was not working with no heater. Also suna was not working. The swimming pool water was very cold and the lighting there was rather dim. No WiFi the first morning for several hours - I missed a very important on-line session as a result. The TV Entertainment system in the room did not work at all and we had wanted to watch a movie. The hotel maintenance guy was not able to fix the machine. The parking was very expensive compared to lots in very close proximity to the hotel. We also had to contend with very noisy neighbours on the second evening. Confusing entrance, no sign to indicate that you had to go to the second floor to register (that I could see). The room is old, and the toilet made a lot of noise. TV no chanle noise bath room does not have Hose for cleaning we have to use papare toilets. place darnes train station at night. pool is very small. shower / bath poorly lit. Indoor pool was too cold; the hot tub was not hot. That "select" on letsbookhotel.com did not describe the oriental atmosphere, and the picture of the hotel was misleading. Noisy at night. Parking rate was too expensive and the Internet never worked. Swimming pool was freezing cold, pool area not cleaned. Could hear every other room door on the same floor slamming shut. The restaurant was just plain terrible and expensive. Parking expensive. Cost, condition of the hotel, requires significant investment to upgrade. Quality of the hotel was misleading according to the website. Staff checking was rather rude and not interested in accommodating their customers. When I finally did get a roll away cot you could feel every coil in the mattress due to its age. The room was clean and very dated. The rug had a whole in it next to the air condition. The way the people who Work In the hotel treat the guests. The only time I was treated well was by pierre. The chinese guys are so terrible educated! The roomskeeping were really Nice as well. This hotel is DESPERATE for a renovation....It seemed very dated, and not very clean....door handles, carpet, elevators, showers, everything seemed "worn-out"....we were VERY disappointed, from the second we aarrived, to the minute we left. The staff tried to accomodate us, but we ended up leaving before our time....think twice about going here... Thanks,.
