The hotel staff was friendly and welcoming with all guests. The hotel was clean and rooms were tidy. The hotel is on a side street so there wasn't as much noise at night compared to a main road which was nice. The value for your money is fantastic, for us (a couple) it was much cheaper to stay here in our own private room and private bathroom vs. getting a private room and shared bathroom at a hostel. I would highly recommend this hotel for a traveller who is looking for a budget friendly o.
all reviews » Comfortable and clean accommodations located near a variety of desirable neighborhoods. Rue St. Denis, Rue St. Laurent, Old Montreal, the Plateau and the Village are all nearby. It's also just two blocks from the Metro, which will get you just about anywhere. Quiet and off the busy street. Breakfast was okay. Hotel des Arts staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel, being near to the metro station is very convenient. Room and facilities are excellent. Being a vegetarian I liked breakfast very much. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other budget travelers. The Hotel is really good. Very friendly staff and amazing location (you can walk to the most interesting places and to the metro station). The huge plus is that you can find in the lobby free hot tea or coffee whenever you want. Simple comfort: comfortable bed, shower, breakfast, and wi-fi - that is all that I wanted from a hotel. The hotel is located near St. Laurent metro station which is close to the city center. Friendly staff. Air conditioned room. Walking distance to cafes and bars. The location is a bit dingy but 3-4 minutes walk to the next street and it becomes a desirable location. This was my fourth time staying in this hotel as we stay there in August every year. It would have been nice to be able to secure an early check in when I requested it as we had a wedding to attend one hour after checking in, but the hotel could not guarantee this until we arrived. Thankfully, our room was clean! So it all worked out. Not the most picturesque immediate neighborhood. Breakfast was okay. A coffee maker in the room is deficient, if the hotel provides this facility it would be more convenient. I cannot think of anything. direct surrounding of the hotel a bit ugly but next street already ok. The room facing the street at street level can be a little loud in the night hours. Decor/fittings/furniture could be improved but they are adequate if a little dated. Can't really complain given the price as everything else was fine. The room had no refrigerator which we would have liked. - Cleanliness of the room: stains on the carpet and bathtub - Hair dryer not working - Esthetic: Some parts of the room worth better finition: e.g. they changed the lock of the door for an electronic card but we can still see the holes for the previous lock. There are also some holes in the ceiling for previous equipment. would have liked a fridge in the room. no parking and the bedroom even though listed as non-smoking, still had a strong smell of tobacco. regarding the payed money there was no bad thing. maybe we can clean/replace the bathtub in a better way and the hidden corners in the back of the door and on the corners of the ceiling. Parking is a hassle. the hotel was paid on booking, despite that they pre-authorized my credit card with additional $50 deposit (which was later returned); plastic cutlery with breakfast. Definitely an older hotel, but still serviceable. Lack of Parking. No control over the parking. Limited choices. No parking for cars...had to walk 2-3blocks to park car over night and keep going back every 24hrs to issue a new parking permit! Inconnvenience. The blankets. No parking. It took them 30minutes to give me my 50$ deposit back. Said there was a mistake on the computer..... I got late For work because of them.. But At least I got my deposit back!. It is located on a not very clean side street. the hall of the hotel ,could it be bigger?. Rooms really needed a big clean, cobwebs on walls & sheets felt dirty. Smell of marijuana in the stairwell. hallways smelled disgusting. lots of stains and cigarette burns in room. I have some bites on my arm. I cant confirm hey are bed bugs but I would be careful. The communication with the hotel staff was very poor and they could have been a little bit more friendly. We booked a non-smoking room, and what we got was a really bad smelling one. Even the pillows smelled smoky. Breakfasts were a bit meager. Found hair in the new towels and graffiti on the walls. no parking or parking discount no baby bassinet or crib available plastic carpet in the bathroom has black mold. tub was stained and looked dirty, felt we could not take a bath. found a bed bug. carpets were dirty, our first room had gum stuck to the carpet. We took pictures. Breakfast. everything looks too old. You could smell tabaco smoke here and there in the hotel. Stains on carpet, broken curtain rod, super cheap pillows. Condition of the carpet was the biggest negative. We were told 10.00 parking available. Lot was so tiny no space had to go to24.00 lot, fine but wish we were told to expect this. to much expensive for a ** hotel... for example type of TV... it's for my grandfather not in 2013. Rooms are dirty. The carpets, bedding and tub were stained. There were bed bugs.
