This is a 12 room family run hotel on large forested property right on 12 mile Lake. It has its own boat dock. It is Adults Only. 10 of the 12 rooms have beautiful lake views. Breakfast is included and Dinner is available by arrangement. All food is cooked locally and is excellent. Rooms have refrigerator and coffee making facilities. Lots of places to eat within 10 minutes drive. Minden is 7 km drive with Tourist information, 2 food stores and great Dairy for ice cream. Other larger tows withi.
all reviews » Conny and Arend, the owners/operators are absolutely the nicest people! They made us feel welcome and were very attentive to all their guests without being intrusive in any way. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. Breakfasts were delicious, generous portions, and enjoyed while watching the birds and squirrel just beyond the deck. Heather Lodge is fantastic! The owners are wonderful and are very friendly. The food was all homemade and out of this world! They're not licensed for alcohol but we were able to bring our own bottle of wine for dinner. The area by the water is so relaxing and great for swimming! We very much enjoyed our stay here and would definitely go again soon. I loved the friendliness from the owners from the moment I arrived till the moment we signed out, the breakfast was amazing very acomidateing for people you get to select from a menu and its not buffet style. The size of the room was very nice, very clean calm nature vibe through the room. And an amazing view from the balcony. The place was very pretty and being able to sit next to the lake was quite nice. Beautiful views. Breakfast was excellent with tremendous variety and a lot of food. A sybaritic stay in an idyllic lakeside setting. From the pristine grounds to the well appointed room to the plentiful breakfast, we couldn't have been more content. I really enjoyed the hospitality. We experienced unseasonably cool weather while visiting which prevented us from enjoying the outdoors (kayak, canoe, swimming, lounging on the deck, sitting on our balcony, etc) so we spent much of our time away from the resort touring around. Not the resort's fault by any means but it did prevent us from enjoying the facilities as planned. With warmer weather, we would have enjoyed it more. The second night we were able to hear the patrons in the other rooms but it wasn't enough to really bother us. Only downer I found was the parking lot isn't all that big because its a quiet resort. Besides that I loved it. TV could be bigger. Would be nice to have more activities to be able to do - a small swimming pool on the property might be nice. Nothing. The only downfall was that the rooms are not very well insulated. You could hear snoring and people walking around in the room above us. Liked everything about it!. The upstairs room above us. They were up to 3 am. We can hear them walking back and forth and flushing the toilet. Nothing comes to mind. Nothing. Had a room on second floor so had to go up and down some very slippery steps covered in ice. Very dangerous. Previous reviewer mentioned the pillows. Ours were very uncomfortable; like sleeping on bricks. Dinner expensive and not that great. Found Arend quite friendly but Connie seemed very cold. Couldn't find anything I didn't like. the was no air conditioning. When the weather is extremely hot and humid. you need air conditioning. no air conditioning. Lack of pool. need to drive to town for dinner and buy drinks and water.
