Amazing friendly staff, great facilities and air conditioning. Regularly cleaned. The staff are very knowledgable and helpful, they will be able to tell you anything about Rio. This is not a typical "party" hostel as there are people of all different ages and walks of life. Having said that, the bar is great and the caipirinhas are authentic! The only thing that could be considered a negative is the many steps you need to walk up to access it but after the first time it all becomes part of the .
all reviews » The hostel was really very good, our room had a private balcony and was a good size on the upper floor, well located in Santa Teresa overlooking Rio and next to Lapa, a fun district full of clubs and restaurants, staff was young, enthusiastic and very helpful......especially David at front desk, good breakfast and plentiful great Brazilian coffee!!!!. I liked the homely concept, the free wiFi, the availability of drinking water and snacks, toiletries :) I stayed in the double room with attached bathroom- pleasant, cozy and private. I have been travelling for one week and this is the first bed that felt like mine at home :). We booked a double room: and you will enjoy a one-milion-dolar room, nice private balcony with a view over Rio de Janeiro. Staff is friendly but sometimes a bit stressed even-though there are little guests. Amazing breakfast buffet, super delicious!. Staff amazing, building is fabulous and you are right next to the lapa steps. Arty interesting area but felt safe. Airport fare should be 70Rs at night, bus station taxi should be 15-20rs. Fairly Clean, good equipment, nice view. Having to leave!. Just a side note that taxis are recommended for any travel to and from hotel at night but this is probably all over rio. A hostel should offer its guest a kitchen for use. That is the idea of a hostel... We bought a pizza and they did not even let us use the oven eventhough they had one (breakfast only!) In the double room no hangers to place the towels (all are broken). Wifi in the room is pretty weak. The steep incline, got out of breath but that's because I'm unfit!!!. Not so close to the beaches. Nada. hay demasiadas escaleras para llegar, pero es un tema del barrio. Nothing much :-))). price of airport shuttle is too high. A little hard to get to the area. Wish the Tram was still running. Water did not run for 4 days and staff did not do much about it.
