  Very professional, helpful staff. Enormous room with jacuzzi and a walk-in shower that doubles as a steam room. Very acceptable level of noise in my street-facing room. Good wifi in the public areas. - Really nice bedroom! Bath and shower are awesome!

During my stay I visited the city a - The location is great. Every thursday and friday night, in the small square near the hostel, there is a spontaneous gathering of neighbors. It's a fantastic opportunity to meet the locals, drinking beer and speek portuguese. We had a very good time there. The staff is very friendly and you feel safe all the time.

  This was our second stay in the Monte Alegro. Great location near the Arcos de Lapa. Plenty of supermercados, banks, restaurants in the area. Staff were energetic and knowledgable. Very helpful with taxis and service. Rooms were large and clean. Nice pool area. Very good breakfast. - The staff are very friendly, helpful, and competent.   The staff were very professional, friendly and spoke excellent English - unlike staff at most hotels in Lapa and Glória. The breakfast service is fairly standard but good. The lay-out of the rooms is spacious for Rio, and the AC was nice an - rooms are clean, with daily room cleaning during your stay, shower hot and good pressure, bed and pillows comfortable, staff speak fluent english and are all very polite and helpful. The location is great, about 700m from metro, bus stops even closer, taxi's driving past front door at any time of day or night, very accessible, walkin distance to arches of lapa, and night life area. breakfast in the morning is delicious and a large variety.

  New Hostel only opened 5 months before so facilities are pristine condition. Stylish design, Staff wear casual but 'branded' tops. This is a classy joint in the 'cultural' area, don't be fooled by the aged outside appearance..the inside is superb. I also participated in the two free bbq nights during my stay and on two nights the guests were given... what people say » 2 hr 'happy hours' with free caiphirinia's ...awesome! Great atmosphere, pool table, internet, sundeck, library..The best Hostel I've ever stayed in - Supercool hostel with really nice staff. We were two people staying there for 9 nights. We met awesome people and had a really great time. May be the best location you could get during the carnival! Easy to get to Copacabana and Ipanema Beach. The design there is also really cool! We really liked that it has pool table, bar, kitchen, barbeque area and always free toilets and showers. We´re def. Going back!
