The staff were very professional, friendly and spoke excellent English - unlike staff at most hotels in Lapa and Glória. The breakfast service is fairly standard but good. If you have a room in the back, you have a gorgeous view of Corcovado and you can see the Redentor (barely but still) Best is the location: you are just 5 minutes away from Centro, Cinelândia and all the transportation you could want, in a good part of Lapa. The lay-out of the rooms is spacious for Rio, and the AC was nice an.
all reviews » rooms are clean, with daily room cleaning during your stay, shower hot and good pressure, bed and pillows comfortable, staff speak fluent english and are all very polite and helpful. The location is great, about 700m from metro, bus stops even closer, taxi's driving past front door at any time of day or night, very accessible, walkin distance to arches of lapa, and night life area. breakfast in the morning is delicious and a large variety. The reception staff were excellent and spoke very good English, they were on hand to help and advise when you needed. The rooms were clean, comfortable and gave you everything you would need. The breakfast was very good with great selection. There was a bus stop outside that would take you directly to Copacabana Beach. The bars and restaurant around we're welcoming and always lively. Really fantastic time here. Absolute bliss from the madness of the rio carnival yet excellent location! Comfy clean cool rooms, excellent wifi, great air con. Breakfast was an enormous buffet selection incl hot eggs, cheese, meats, bakery, cereal and fruits. Location great bus stop outside to cops cabana beach for $3 reales each and next to thelapa aqueduct and cathedral. Staff helpful and got us carnival tickets. Hotel has a fitness center and swimming pool. Buses to all the major tourist sites can be boarded directly outside the hotel. There is an odd bit of construction going on in the plot behind the hotel; at night and the early morning you hear a lot of elevator and telephone noises. And during Dia dos namorados (!) ... the hotel restaurant at night can have slow service even when not busy. however there are many other amazing restaurants in the area so its not a problem. The surrounding area can only be described as colourful, to say the least but still charming, and very friendly. There are a lot of homeless people in the area but they don't bother you. We both felt comfortable and safe at all times of day and night. Not mentioned at check-in that some construction work going on and that caused unpleasant noise. Our room was changed after the first night. - Cannot blame the hotel but the street has quite a few prostitutes in the dark. Hence doesn't feel really safe. Renovation works were still going on. not the best area around hotel. The airconditioner in the place worked sporadically. There was also no water on two occasions in the area. Location, location. Street very dirty and urine smell is very prominent. a bit pricy, not all stuuf at reception can speak english. bathroom breakfeast more or less. Still some construction going on. poor internet very slow and not working at times. If you need internet do not use this hotel. They subscribe to minimum internet plan and so not usable most of the time. All showers in Brazil seem to be the old-fashioned fixed to the wall overhead type. The air-con was quite noisy and old. There was no tv reception hence couldn't use tv. Staff was not accomodating. There was no water at all during the morning, not even to brush my teeth. I understand problems occur, but the staff did a very poor job of finding solutions. Not a good start of my day. bit expensive. Rude morning staff. A lady made me cue even if i paid already everything only to give the key. They don't know what Express Check Out means, which all other hotels has. I cued 30 minutes and at the end she just asked me for the key and say bye. Unprofessional, no idea of what customer service is. She should be replaced by better staff as in Rio a lot of people is looking for a job. AC was very loud. poor facilities.
