Lovely hotel, beautifully maintained in a quiet and pretty location within walking distance of cafes, restaurants and hotels. Free off street parking a real bonus. The $8- continental breakfast in the lovely dining room great way to start the day. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again. Beautiful historic hotel, very comfortable beds, courteous staff, lovely quiet tree-lined street in close proximity to North Sydney and short taxi to city. The room was immaculate (very clean) with neutral odour, well maintained courtyard, gardens and breakfast room. A very pleasant stay - we will be back!.
all reviews » The rooms were generously sized, well-equipped and comfortble. King size bed. Very attentive staff even found gluten-free food without notice. We also liked the complimentary port and reading material, the bowl of bonbons by the front door, the very comfortable bed (most important) the free parking and the delicious continental breakfast. Clean, comfortable room. Continental breakfast was simple, but satisfying & excellent value at $7.00 per person!! They were happy to hold our luggage as we had a late flight. Suited our needs as my wife was having a surgical procedure at a local hospital and we did not want to travel back down the freeway late at night. The room was quite spacious and clean. Limited off street parking with narrow driveway entry; had to keep windows closed at night to prevent possum access; our room overlooked school which was noisy in mornings (double glazing helped); limited hanging space; hairdryer rest broken. Nothing- it was all good!. Nothing. The man on the late shift was a bit rude when I went down to my car late at night. The shower was far from roomy. Hotel's front door will be closed after 23:00 , and open at 7:00. which means you may not have too much night life. Breakfast had not been replenished (even though just basic cereals, toast, juices etc). Request to have glasses and cutlery delivered was met with a "we're very busy this morning". Expect better even though only $8 per person!. Nothing. Noise from building works in next property on Eastern side. Smell in bathroom. Not really suited for room service. Nothing. All good. unsafe platform around stairwell to garage. Nothing. the towels in the bathroom, very thin and small. Nothing. Towels a bit old, hallway outside, old floor boards very noisy, would request a room upstairs next time. Plus no fridge in this room. Prefer fresh milk not long life. Tight vehicle parking. Basic breakfast fare. Nothing. Nothing that upset me. Old style hotel. Limited parking space, not explained before booking. Not a lot of parking. Being on older establishment you could hear footsteps of people walking along the corridor, with having wooden floors, the room above, you could hear footsteps. But these are small issues that shouldn't detract from the charm of the hotel. Very small shower recess. Parking on the street. Pillows are old and flat and should be replaced Rooms could do with redecorating. The queen was actually 2 singles put together with a very obvious bump / divide, the shower was a bit twee, we could hear everything that went on in the corridor and as the latter led to the breakfast room, there was considerable traffic / activity early in the morning. Not so good female staff in terms of attitude and services, probably that she is a part-time staff. Room allotted to me as compared to others is too small. Pillows, bed (two singles pushed together. ) toilet seat would not stay up. minimal complimentary's. The rooms are poorly sound proofed and we could hear EVERY noise in the room above. The beds was too soft indeed it sagged in the middle so little sleep was achieved.
