the place is an excellent option for those like me travelling with family and spending all day out exploring the city and surroundings, great and friendly service all trough from cleaning helper to management staff, facilities were much more than i was expecting for the price and location superb. Conveneince to the local markets and city not too far away and ccommodation for the bicycle. Staff were very friendly and even arranged for local taxi and bookings at YHA in the Blue Mountains.

One of the best hostels we have stayed at any where in the world. Clean and well staffed. Apart from the two complaints we had, it is an ideal hostel to stay. It was really clean, comfort and the staffs were really so friendly and kind. I will definitely go other YHA backpackers when I want to visit other states. Very nice people at the reception, daily cleaners, very hygienic bathrooms, rooms and kitchen, beautiful rooftop, people from all ages around. staff, ease of help at the desk, the room we booked was just right, very comfortable with a lovely view out the large screened window. Large communal kictchen/cafe area and lounge rooftop and tv area were great. Felt very relaxed and comfotable the whole time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Very good location, as it is near to the city ccentre but far enough to be quiet. My VTM wouldn't work and staff were very nice to handle the situation. Nice and clean bathroom and kitchen area. The big plus for me was the diversity and mixed age group of fellow travelers . The room was clean and quite convenient to walk into the city. Staff couldn't do anything about either except to suggest we ring the internet provider which we thought wasn't our job and they did tell us the TVs were due to be replaced. The staff did agree that we paid a top dollar and those two features should be better. Nothing. All good. bathroom, not enough space or shelves to put things in the shower. Had to change rooms twice in my 4 day stay due to their availability of 8 bed dorm rooms. plus i had to pay more than usual as it was melbourne cup time. The kitchen is a bit small. there is not free wifi neither breakfast, items that could be included with the price you are paying. The elevator was slow to get to my floor and jumpy when going down to the basement. There was no urinals in the men's toilets and previous users urinated on the seat. There wasn't anything Gluten Free available for me to eat at the cafe, except some serial, but there was no soy milk or non dairy milk available for me to eat it with. I have many allergies, so its hard for me to eat out. The picture of the room in the internet is much better than the actual room. It was ok though. The hostel staff had failed to notice that I had changed my booking from one night to two. This meant I was potentially without accommodation on the second night. The manger accepted responsibility for the mistake and arranged for me to stay in a motel close by at no extra cost. I was pretty sure I had booked a double room with private ensuite so was pretty shocked on arrival to find we had no bathroom. I thought it was pretty expensive to pay nearly $100 a night for a room without a private bathroom. Also, used snitary products were left in the shower room. Pretty expensive per night, but then again all accommodation here is expensive! Best value for money from other hostels I've stayed in in Melbourne! Only downfall is that it doesn't include breakfast!. Face the Highway Road, and with a pub just right on the downstairs, too noisy, I awoke serval times every nights. I asked to change to another room not facing to the main road, twice, but the staff said they didn't have another room even though I saw some people checked out that morning. And the staffs in reception are not very friendly. The location is quite far from the railway station and coach terminal. Be ready to pay 3 dollars for a laundry and 3 dollars to dry your clothes and 10 dollars for 3-day Internet access. We were forced to check in twice for no reason. It made our stay unpleasant and uncomfortable. Btw we made our booking for two persons, so no idea why we had to check out and check in later the same day. And our roommate was forced to change room also, is it your normal practice? If so, I won't recommend this hostel to my friends. Luggage storage is 2$ per day. Won't forget there anything you need or you will pay everytime you open the door (automatic system). Dorms are small and inconvenient. rooms are very small staff could be a bit more friendly. Kitchen is not large enough for all residents. Accidents might occur due to many persons moving with hot stuff and all! Bed sheets are not replaced ever even if a person stays for ever. Internet not included. Part of the service is behaving unprofessionally. Wish the facilities were 24/7 available for those who have jet lag Some of the mattresses were very uncomfortable than others Elevator is extremely slow. the room (duoble ensuite) was stuffy, lack of ventilation. The showers and bathroom could be cleaned more often. Atmosphere is almost non-existent, very poor activities on offer. Lift extremely slow and broke twice during a 4 day stay. Location is 15 mins walk to city but can be difficult to find to someone completely new to Melbourne - especially at night. This is definitely not a party hostel, there is no bar and many of the guests are older travellers which is fine depending on what you're after. Actual room was much worse than the Photo of the room in the website. I feel robbed.
