It was good value for money, great location for holidaying, shopping and close to public transport. Clean and tidy, modern, bathroom had a good layout and was a good size, apartment was tastefully decorated. Had everything required for a self contained appartment. The apartment was nicely presented and well equipped. I loved the balcony. The bed was very comfortable. The location is excellent. The Scottish girl st the desk was excellent and very friendly and helpful (think her name was Michelle or Melissa).
all reviews » the staff on the front desk where extremely helpful. Upon arrival we were greeted by a young gentleman (from Adelaide I think or studied there) and the next day a gentleman from Texas? Both were extremely helpful and delightful. Iam looking to come back next year with my family and we will be looking at staying a Oaks Aurora again, Has everything was within walking distance and the staff working there are very friendly so please keep up good job :). We really enjoyed our stay... First walking distance to all the nicest places to see at Brisbane... Second we love the view though its 10th floor onlu, hoping on our next trip maybe we can try the 50 plus level. was a fabulous view, beautiful clean room with great shower and comfortable beds n couch. close to both queen st mall and eagle st pier, with a great french patisserie across the road!. Good location - close to river ferries (for access to Southbank parklands etc), Eagle St Pier eateries etc and also not far from Shopping in CBD. Balcony. View from room. Lighting in the room is below par for "old" people like us, not even a lamp in the sitting room. Could not read at night, very dim. We were in room 378. No parking area...our car is really big for a family holiday... Make sure you request your car park when booking your room and ask the hotel to send you directions and instructions for accessing the car park and reception. I did this and thought arrival / check-in would have been quite difficult without having this information. Nothing really. Staff looked bored. A smile goes a long way in customer service. I work on Hamilton Island and have been working there for the last 8 years. Guests are number 1. No heated spa and pool. There was nothing in the room to tell us hotel rules or brochure/maps of local entertainment, shopping (food), things to do. There was also nothing to tell us that room cleaning was done on a daily basis, although a great service. Very hard to find the hotel also, found a lack of signage hard to pinpoint which hotel it actually was. Room was a bit tired, beaten about (assume due to the excellent value for money (and on viewing the rules) it is due to perhaps attracting a younger clientele who may not treat the facility with respect). Nothiing at all. + Couldn't seem to find free to air news channels. Local channels on Foxtels were not available through subscription level, and TV had to be re-tuned to get channels + "Oaks" car parking signs were a little small and hard to identify when trying to find a car park. Complicated entry & parking facilities. Beds are way too hard. Pillows are too hard and high. Blinds in bedroom were missing. There was no ducted air into the bedrooms until the fan speed was set to high on the controller. the parking ! I offered to pay for parking and the lady at front desk said I had to park my car across the other side to the road because they don't have enough parks for everyone, my car is brand new I didn't want to just leave it anywhere ! also that lady I dealt with was the one and only start that was very rude and not caring !!. The TV did not work in the first apartment so Tim very kindly relocated me to a better room. However both the phone and the microwave didn't work in that apartment. The drainage in the bathrooms is always poor in the apartments at Aurora and the old spout fittings need to be upgraded. The smoke alarms are super sensitive, i found the paint work on the walls pretty shabby, blotches everywhere, felt there was a lack of telephone books or information about Brisbane city in the room, maybe info on buses , taxies , transport would be handy. I did find the cutlury needed another clean before use.. None of the staff were overly friendly, none smiled at us at any point we had interactions or when we'd walk by the desk. except there was a nice helpful young man who greeted us initially then came to check out our broken foxtel box in our room whom was friendly. The utinsils provided, e.g. plates, didn't have any measuring cups, barely any bowls or larger plates to put meals for two on. No bar cafe reception entrance isn't all that to look at. Car park a bit difficult to negotiate if you have a 4WD. Car parks for guests were little bit spread out and not defined enough. Could not see our other family members as they were another floor above us and could not access as needed. had to call all the time and meet in elevator etc. Needed better pillows! The only fault of a great stay. Special requests given to letsbookhotel.com at time of booking were either not passed on to Oaks Aurora or were not followed through by Oaks Aurora. not easy to find while driving around brisbane and paying extra for parking. Would have been good if staff had mentioned where to find car park when I booked car parking. although secure, parking fee was a bit steep for one night when your paying that much to stay. a little difficult getting in to the hotel reception .....phone, wait for staff and buzzed in. Entrance for drop off pick up Dark corridor outside lift. The room was very dirty and bathroom mouldy. All ok. having to pay for the car parking when we checked out - didn't realize it was extra!. Too security conscious. Hard to work out how to get in and out of place. Bed caved in to the middle. Tv sound didn't work when we checked in but they did fix it. Dishwasher not effective/no instructions. They made up the room twice when I specifically asked not to. No wireless Internet.
