We arrived at Chrisanthi nearly by chance in August 2012. We liked the place so much that we came back in 2013. Mirthios is a small village just over Plakias, but it is the ideal location for doing many things, from swimming in Souda, in Plakias and in the other many beautiful beaches, or trekking in the gorges (try Imbros Gorge: shorter than Samaria, but very very beautiful), or trying some good restaurant nearby.
