There is incredible value to be found at The Trylon: clean rooms with everything that you need: a nice bed with a great mattress that allows you to have a good nights sleep, all the amenities that you want: a bathroom with enough space, a tv, a hairdryer; there is even an ironing board and a clothes iron. The family who runs the place is a friendly lot who will help you with booking a shuttle to the airport, printing your boarding pass, storing you luggage if your flight leaves late, etc. For .
all reviews » The owner and his family are unbeatable in their hospitality. A smile is enough for them to go out of their way to help travelers to spend a great time in their neat and cosy place. The rooms are surprisingly large. When we arrived, the place smelled lovely, fresh and clean, a welcome change from LA's horrible traffic-induced stink. Wireless worked flawlessly and was surprisingly fast as well. Make sure you plan about 60-90mins of transfer time between lax and this place using the supershuttle . 1. It's a convenient location near Hollywood Bldvd, Grifftith park & observatory (Hollywood sign) secure parking lot, restaurants, cvs, 7eleven, & a cute 100% organic coffee & crepes cafe called Solar Cafe de Cahuenga. 2. They have a reasonable price range of $75 + tax and $10/day parking (with military discount) 3. With functioning room amenities like flat screen TV, alarm clock, free coffee, refrigerator, iron, 2 extra chairs, hair dryer 4. Smooth transaction 5. Safe and . It was great experience staying in this hotel and would say it real VFM (value for money). Its a family run hotel thus you can expect immediate attention to your complaints, if any. If I visit LA its definitely gonna be this hotel... clean, family owned, good place to stay for a few days in hollywood, you can walk to the walk of fame and get on a bus to farmers market or shopping centres. All the tours start on the walk of fame strip so you can take tours everyday which is good. Also a cute cafe 2 minutes away. our flights home were not until 10.30 pm so they held our bags all day which was great. Helpful family run business. We were given a useful guide sheet with directions of nearby attractions. Rooms were comfortable with large windows and good curtains which open to great light. Fridge, coffee, ironing board/iron were available in the room including an extra foldaway table. The hotel is an older building which maintains charm and has character. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. It was close to a 7-11 supermarket, close to a great cafe, close to laundry and a bus stop to get to Warner Bros and Universal Studios. It was only a few blocks from the Hollywood Blvd Hall of Fame. I stayed there for a few nights and then came back later in my holiday and stayed another few nights. This is minor observation, but we found the very, very casual appearance of the owner-family somewhat surprising: bare feet, etc is not common where we come from. However, we must also mention that behind the casual demeanor we found professional people with a great sense of humour, and a service-mindedness that surpassed our expactions. It's not so much things I didn't like, rather than a suggestion (kind of nitpicking) I'd like to offer for further improvements: The remote control's batteries were low, so a small check before guests use the room could remedy this situation swiftly. Since LA's climate is rather hot-ish/humid, the plastic shower curtains tend to smell after a while and get mucus-ridden. My suggestion would be to wash them frequently or avoid pvc curtains altogether. 1. The bed wasn't the best I have slept on. 2. They should offer military discount for online bookings. 3. They should lower the daily parking fee because they only ask $3 for other vehicles. nothing to dislike. Nothing... Pillow cases were worn thin so we had to use cases from extra available pillows to double up. Sink-toilet arrangement was awkward (sink was far too close to the toilet). Repaired crack in sink was visible and some stains on the shower ceiling and tub. Some wall parts had missing quarter- round pieces on the baseboards. air con was very noisy in the room is it is on. The location is 2 blocks away from hollywood blvd and right between the 2 metro stations which a bit too far if you have luggage with you... Not alot around the hotel. A coffee shop and petrol stn. The rooms are a little small. The shower wasn't the most powerful but it was hot and clean. Nothing. Nothing. Front rooms suffer from traffic noise. Air conditioner didn't keep the room cool enough. This is a very basic hotel. Location without a car, although near to tourist madness, walk of fame etc - I did need a car. Loud at night, but we are in Hollywood. Drug selling outside, corner. Some homeless hanging out around hotel. No breakfast. Ac was noisy but I found that with may hotels. Had to pay for parking. the room was a bit noisy. Small room. No room view (compound lot). Would be better to have parking on site.
