The Modern is a fantastic place to stay. This was our second trip there and we loved every minute. We stayed longer this time and still didn't want to leave, The staff are just lovely, the rooms are stunning and well thought out, the views are divine, the interior design is gorgeous, the pool is divine, the other guests are always interesting,rooms, the gym is great, the spa was divine, great massage, the food was excellent and we ate there alot. More of a business hotel as most of the people there were on a convention. Bars and restraunts had no atmosphere so we ate out every night.Although the hotel was in a nice location it does have roads on three sides and as the hotel doesn`t have double glazing it can be very noisy..we were on the 11th floor and could hear the traffic and people on the street below.so if you like quiet hotels this is not for you. Nothing. I liked everything. Little slow with service at breakfast on first day but after that no problems. If I had to criticise, and it is hard, the only thing I would say is that we did not have a balcony in our twin room which was a shame. But we had a great view. A little remote from Waikiki center (but only 15 min to walk there and many busses going there, it was not a problem for us at all), but good restaurants, fast food, supermarket, shopping mall around the hotel. Nothing. some mix up and delays but these were minor. Price for a breakfast comparing to the size. The cocktail in the private pool area was not that delicious as Hilton's. The sun bed scam, when they know the hotel is goin to be busy they reserve some sun beds and try to charge guests between 150 and 250 dollars a bed!. 1--No Hawaiian flavor. Hotel could be located anywhere. HI not depicted in decor. 2--Concierge not so knowledgeable on local attractions, things to see, or pro-active recommending. 3--Room service did not fullfil request to bring ice to the room. Far from center of Waikiki. Beach near is not good, better to go to Duke statue. No breakfast, some times no place near pool. But the main problem was that they book from card 4200$ and additionally charge 4200$. Not happy with this at all. Stayed in a room just above the entrance to the hotel and night club. We could not sleep all night. When we announced the next morning that we would move out the staff was very professional and efficient. If you want to have a quiet night, make sure you do not get a room above the main entrance as even the street is extremely noisy at night. The trendy interior does not neccesarly justify the steep room rate. 1. At least 15 minutes after I checked in, my lugguage just arrived at my room. 2. I was arranged on 5th floor, and it was quite noisy. And actually when i booked the room, i asked for "high level". Awoken twice in middle if night, once by staff at 3am. Accosted by person outside the hotel and screamed at. Shower had mildew and grime. Morimoto wasn't money for value nor was it al la carte. Staff was ok- didn't have computers for guests free of charge- they charge you for it while hyatt place does not charge you for it nor did hyatt place have grimey showers. Spa was over priced. Too far from the main strip The City View room which we got faced another Hotel wall it was definitely not the city overall for what we paid per night not worth it Would not recommend.
