I loved that the room was nicely sized for our family of 4. There was plenty of room for us to spread out in the room so we didn't feel like we were right on top of each other. The bathroom was huge, with his and hers sinks and a separate room for the shower, bath tub and toilet. I also appreciated that the room had a mini fridge and a Keurig coffee maker. It also had free wireless internet access throughout the hotel. We also enjoyed using the exercise room -- it was clean and had several diff.
all reviews » One of the most amazing hotels I've ever stayed at. Rooms are immaculate with jaw dropping views of the Chicago river and the intriguing Chicago skyline! Hotel staff were very friendly and well spoken. The food from the hotels' restaurant Hoytes was finger lickin good! The location is the best, easy walk to Mag mile, millennium park and even to the field museum and aquarium. And great places to eat any meal of the day surround this beauty of a hotel. Chicago Theatre is close at hand. It takes 15-minute walk along Michigan Avenue to reach Art Institute Chicago in which arranged Impressionist treasures of art, masterpieces of Pablo Picasso and many other contemporary collections. And for shoppers - just go across the bridge and you are on the famous Magnificent mile. The location could not have been better. Excellent! Also staff was really helpful, nice and relaxed. Room was really ok (and clean), bed was comfortable and the view to river was great! Room price did not include breakfast which did not bother, there was romservice availbale if needed and also several cafeterias and good breakfast places within short walking distance. We loved our stay at Hotel 71. The view from our room was fabulous, like something you'd see in a Chicago brochure. The room was spacious and the hotel was close to everything. Staff was very nice. Great location in the center of downtown, right in the middle of shopping and sightseeing. Really no need for a car or taxi. The hotel is right across the street from the river and room had a great view of the river. Room very large and very clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We asked if we could check in early and they checked and didn't have a room ready but asked for a phone number and they called as soon as it was available. They also offered to store our luggage for us. The location was just outstanding. Halfway between the Shopping and the Theater districts. The Views on the riverside are great. Cheap enough price for a great location, I went there with my girlfriend for what was supposed to be one night but we loved it so we ended up staying for two nights. Reccommended. 16th floor room had a knock out view of the River and the Loop in general. Room was large and particularly comfotable. The staff was professional, friendly and very helpful. Didn't like the fact that I had nothing to dislike in Wyndham Grand Chicago Waterfront!. Noise from hall into rooms was louder thatn other hotels we have stayed at. The ledge around the bathroom sink needs cleaned better or re-caulked. There is an attached bar called Hoyt's. We stopped by for a drink after our show The Bartender was horrible. It was not crowded and it was clear that she was more interested in talking with hotel staff instead of serving customers. You don't have to " be all over me", but you do have to "be there". Never like paying for parking in Chicago and it was like $50 a day to park on/near the property (that may be just the way it is in that area). Might figure out how to take train/cabs and leave the car at home... Lobby and entry way seem a bit dated. The downstairs restaurant and bar could be incorporated more into the lobby area through some remodeling. There was no breakfast included in the room price. Needs mirror in the main part of the room. We had 4 girls using a double queen room and it was a little difficult sharing the bathroom mirror. no mini bar?. We were not impressed with the restaurant's menu and chose to eat elsewhere. A few glitches with housekeeping not refreshing room supplies; mix-up with room service menu probably due to change in owners. Both solved immediately & graciously. A chair rather than chaise lounge would increase room comfort. Everything was great. The room was clean, but for the price it was a bit tired, and the air did not work very well and the windows did not open. One front desk lady was moody and not cordial. The tall doorman, gave no eye contact, not very friendly, never offered us a taxi, or help ,seemed mad/stuck up. All the other doormen were great,nice and helpful. Big smiles always, just what you need to start you day. Slow lifts, inconvenience of being offered something only to find it not available I.e. discounted tickets to the red trolley bus; room was not cleaned by 3:00 pm in the afternoon. Nothing in particular. The prices were almost doubled because of the Chicago Marathon. Hotel renovation early in the morning. The gap at the bottom of the door allowed too much noise in from the hallway. Five nights and four times reasons for complaints about roomservice. Therefore a fair for staff in the sum. Otherwise a good to excellent. Would've welcomed walking map of area. I didn't think to ask for one though. Air conditioner was poor, had to get a fan from front desk because room was so hot. Still construction noise at hotel but kept to reasonable times. The ring of elevators (we were just next, and in front of the service elevator). The bed was a little tired. Hotel breakfast options were limited. the last night of staying, at 3am, a gentleman from the staff entered in the room to give the check-out receipt...
