I took my wife to the Fairmont Grand Hotel in Kyiv as this was originally where she had requested we go for our "honeymoon" last year. It didn't work out for several reasons. This year, it was possible. The Fairmont Grand Hotel chain is the ULTIMATE in absolute LUXURY...I've stayed at the original in San Francisco many times and it is the best...even over the 5 star, world famous Mark Hopkins across the street, the Ritz Carlton, the Hyatt Regency, and many others...the Fairmont DEFINES luxury i.
all reviews » The hotel is beautiful. Rooms are large and comfortable great bed. The staff very courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. Most spoke excellent English. Breakfast is a Wow! big selection and very good. Barman was excellent for making Martini's. It was a wonderfaul weekend for me and my husband. As our visit to Kiev was as a short honeymoon, administration of Fairmont Grand Hotel did an upgraid of our room and prepared for compliment - fruits and vine. Very nice:))). I loved the staff, so helpful and friendly, they spoke excellent English. They help a great deal! I loved the room, the bed was great and the bathroom was so pleasant that I want to use that design in my next home. This is an excellent hotel. The staff is amazing. They remember guests...they make special arrangements. It is an exceptionally well trained staff. James Taylor, the front office manager is the BEST. Nice views on Dnepr river. Close to metro station and train to upper town. We were positively surprised to get flowers and fruits at wedding anniversary we had diring the stay. Good bath facilities. True luxury. Fresh hotel, very large room. We were given room on the 10th floor with perfect river view. There is nice free steam room in the SPA. The staff was polite and responsive. The taxi to get up for the early morning was going to cost 240hrv. So opted for the hotel car and for it to wait on my girlfriend while she said goodbye. It cost 700hrv. Sport channel did not work. Intensive traffic spoils the microlocation. No magazines or maps in the room. Too much staff in the lobby zone. No black or green tea in the room. Location - not that easy to get to the center au pied - better take taxi which is quite cheap in Ukraine. River embankment is under renovation - not very convenient. There is no swimming pool , more facilities must be found at night in hotel , may be night club or another activities can fill at night . More English t.v. channels needed, really only CNN and the BBC News. I suppose some processes and standards hadn't been 100% set up yet, sometimes staff forgot to change shampoos in the bathroom or smth like that... I think it will pass ina while. No pool. Not tasty macaroons at lobby bar. Lack of pool. Only drawback was an extremely busy and noisy fly over for cars just built in front of hotel, along riverside. Construction side is very close to hotel. Construction of a road interchange right in front of the hotels. Facade rooms overlook it but not the river as before. problems AGAIN....I will not return to this property. Construction noise, heavy traffic at location, taxis will not go there, no pool, fitness center is a joke, spa is TERRIBLE. Construction besides. no!. niece place but too much in $$$$$. Room servise. wifi don't work. The road works outside. construction noise; taxis will not go to this location because of construction; spa is the WORST anywhere; no pool, fitness center is a joke; poorly trained staff. Front office manager so amateur person!.
