What people say
The people in the reception were very friendly. They allowed us to check in early. The room was clean and in perfect conditions. In fact, this hotel looks like a 4-5 stars hotel. It is located at a walking distance from the rail station and close to the cathedral. Liked bieng in a room at the rear of the hotel,so noise from the adjoining night club was minimal. Really appreciated being able to leave bags while going out fro the day, even after check out, and being able to collect them before catching the train.all reviews »
The hotel is in a very good location which makes it excellent value at £80.00 per night. We have stayed in the past and would not hesitate to use the hotel next time we visit york. Everything was clean and staff were extremely helpful.A room in which a previous gueast had been smoking was changed with no fuss.Room was ready earlierthan expected, and cases could be left in a locked room until we were ready to catch our train. Cleanliness of room and friendly staff. comfort and closness to the town. Very nice - bathroom was great!. It was in a good spot. good customer service. The location of the hotel was fabulous, breakfast served until a reasonable time and check-out wasn't until 12. hotel staff were very friendly and informative when asking for suggestions of places to dine and drink e.t.c. Excellent location between station and town centre, everything necessary for a comfortable holiday provided and good breakfast included in the price. Baggage storage on day of departure particularly useful.Central position and great value for money. Definitely a no frills hotel, but the continental breakfast which was included in the price was excellent. It was also very clean. staff were helpful and friendly and hotel was right in the centre of york. excellent helpful bar/reception staff on duty at night. Very good value for money, will go again. Private, quiet and comfortable. There was nothing that we didn't like. The only problem was we were not given a receipt for our payment and had no remote control in our room. However these issues did not take away from the enjoyment of our visit. I found the heating/air conditioning system to be very drying and, because if it's position it blew directly onto the bed which was rather uncomfortable at times. Hot air central heating very efficient but hard to control, either too hot or too cold. Lack of parking, although the hotel staff directed us to a nearby car park which only cost £9 for 24 hours. the only downside was the parking. We felt that overnighters should be allowed to park outside. Many Thanks. No car parking, but we knew this in advance. The nightclub over the road was very noisy. Only a minor niggle, but not enough sugar sachets in the room forhot drinks.Outside the hotel we went out for a drink and an indian meal the area seemed very hostile with many drunken male teenagers with threatening behaviour . Outside the hotel we went out for a drink and an indian meal the area seemed very hostile with many drunken male teenagers with threatening behaviour . No parking facilities. The wooden floors do not absorb the noise in the other rooms. The walls were very thin and i could hear every word the neighbours. Short life of loo roll left in our room, would have loved 2 smaller club chairs in place of single massive cube chair in bedroom.no car park could prove to be a problem on a longer stay. No mirror above dressing table and no socket near wall mirror (difficult for a girl to dry and style her hair), would take an extension cable next time.really basic rooms. Not enough wardrobe/drawer space. poor toasters in breakfast - v minor comment. Floors were laminate which meant that next door's feet were quite audible. There was no noise from above, however.unfriendly staff when checkig into hotel. Although efficient very kurt. queried £10 supplement for 3 adults in a room and was told this was the price. This was addressed when number of rooms confirmed over telephone and was told triple rroms same price as double.
