The apartment was spacious (a king bed in the separate bedroom and two chairs that opened out to two very comfortable beds in the living room), with a huge bathroom with tub and shower, and a fully equipped kitchen. It was beautifully appointed down to the high quality bed linens and towels. Goodramgate offered the perfect location to explore York on foot as it was just outside Monk Bar adjacent to the old walls. York Minster was a 5 minute walk with shopping, restaurants and pubs everywhere. .
all reviews » Location, near a gate to the old city and very close to shops, as the main reason for our visit was to do our Christmas shopping. Accurate, detailed instructions for finding the apartment were easy to follow. Also the small problem we had with the kitchen lighting was dealt with very promptly, effectively and courteously. The apartment was warm and cosy and suited our needs very well. The apartment is well equipped clean and comfortable. The beds are memory foam which we are used to so enjoyed a good nights sleep. Picked the keys up from Montys Ice Cream Parlour no problem (delicious ice cream) and Eva showed us to our apartment. She was very helpful, professional and courteous. We will definitely return on a regular basis having found this gem of a place. We stayed in the Monk's Loft as a family of two adults/two teenagers. Compact but excellent space with quality fittings & very neat & clean. Good location for walking York walls, visiting Minster, Shambles, shops & all York's best attractions. Staff incredibly helpful & friendly- would definitely stay here again!. We loved our apartment - right under the gate to the old city - even with a quaint wee courtyard. Kitchen and bathroom facilities excellent. The owners sent detailed instructions to us on how t find them and where to park (close by in a ring and pay car park facility - we were grateful for that help). The staff were amazing. Having asked where the closest laundrette was they offered to wash and dry our clothes for us, which they did at no additional charge. Amazing service and really appreciated...! The apartment was cosy and nicely decorated. I would definitely recommend this apartment. Stayed in this beautiful apartment for my sisters 30th birthday. Was a fantastic location to town centre and all the local shops. Friendly staff and communication between us was great. Rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable, stylishly furnished with taste and flair. Owners personally put themselves out to accomodate us when our arrival was delayed till late. The lady looking after the apartment was lovely and very accommodating. The apartment was very central to York with excellent kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. Loved our stay with one adult and 4 teenagers. Excellent location just outside the City Walls. St Maurice's Den is a cosy apartment excellent for all but people having difficulty with stairs. Owners sent helpful details of how to fined the apartments. Upgraded to Bennett House in centre of town. Loved it so much we all wanted to stay! Will be booking again next year. Central location, clean. It was a busy Friday night so there was a bit of noise from the happy crowds leaving the pubs but that passed quickly. The bathroom was of the bedroom, so the person sleeping in the lounge had to go through the bedroom to access the facilities. Nothing it was perfect. Absolutely nothing!. There was nothing bad about these apartments to report. Nothing. Fold out sofa in lounge was very hard. Nothing. Couple of minor niggles, the car park you are directed to will only let you pay to park until 8.30 the next morning and not for 24hrs. This meant getting up at 8 to rush and put more money in. Secondly although it is perfectly clear on the hotels website, I couldn't find anything on letsbookhotel.com regarding collecting the keys from the ice cream parlour. It wasn't an issue but could be explained a little better. Nothing. The only negative was the shower didn't work properly and we could not get any hot water from the shower. My only whinge is that the bath plug became stuck, which was not ideal for those having a shower after my bath!. Some occupants hadn't closed the front door of the apartment bullying. Which when we returned at night made us feel a little uneasy although the apartment itself was secure. Bedroom door very squeaky and woke our sons sleeping on sofa beds in living room when we used the bathroom through night. Parking arrangements were difficult for overnight stay, had to be up before 8 to phone for parking. a bit far away from York train station. Was woken up early Thursday morning by dustbin lorry and bins right outside the window. Also bed was a bit hard. Other apartment users banging doors at 4am two nights running! TV that switched itself on in the middle of the night!. Restricted checking in times. Not a problem on this occasion but could be on others. sofa/bed and chair/bed in lounge uncomfortable for sitting and sleeping. Also feather pillows were uncomfortable. The sat nav did not pick up the car park but it was reasonably easy to find, worth informing travellers it's behind the building with a giant "Bile Beans" advert painted on the side. none. A new duvet as ours was stained. No parking available. Sofa bed was horrendous so uncomfortable need new one. Noisy at night with passers by. Uneven floors. It is grade II listed but was more uneven than you might expect. Very warm Hard to find if you haven't looked at their helpful email. leak in bathroom roof dripped and floor very wet slippery. hen party above on 2nd night. wouldnt recommend weekend stay. Shower could be more powerful. The sofa beds in the living room were not very good and the extra bedding provided did not fit one of the beds which also had a broken leg so was not very stable. For the apartment to comfortably sleep 4 it needs to have a better sofa beds and bedding. Heating was also difficult to control so the apartment was uncomfortably warm. Other than that fine. very noisy from 10pm-5am. Bed too low and mattress very uncomfortable. Remote for t.v didn't work (even after replacing the batteries) Outside light on terrace didn't work. Our apartment didn't really have a lounge area, just a bedroom with seating, one of the reasons we booked was because the description said a lounge area which we took to mean separate from the bedroom. Very noisy from pub across road until around 12:30am. The locals use the passageway to the appartments as a standing area to drink their beer on rainy nights. The noise is right under the bedroom window. Also hot at night - no fan in apartment. Noise, poor quality of fittings, badly designed, uncomfortable beds, lack of kitchen equipment - glasses etc, shoddy appearance.
