I was half expecting a noisy room over a bar, but I was very wrong! The accommodation is housed in a discreet and newly built wing. The room was enormous and beautifully designed and fitted to a very high standard. The room I had looks much better than the one they use on their site, so reality far exceeded expectations. Parking was easy and the Inn is within quick reach of the city centre and station, or a suitable base for exploring Cornwall.
all reviews » We were going on holiday to St Ives and decided to travel on the Friday night with an overnight stop nearby, instead of Saturday morning to beat the traffic jams. Arrived here to friendly reception at about 11.30pm with drinks brought to room. Rooms were smart, breakfast enjoyable, dining area had outside terrace with views and location was absolutely perfect for our travel plans. Would recommend to anyone doing what we did. Excellent example of a pub with very good accommodation. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, outstandingly so in the restaurant. The food was good pub food. The room was much better than I would have expected at this price - well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Overall a very good experience. Check in was excellent was shown up to room by staff, the room was spacious very clean fresh although the bathroom didn't have a bath it did have a large double power shower which was one of the best showers I've had in ages. The restaurant was superb the food was excellent. Can't wait to come back again. 1. The high degree of cleanliness. 2. The staff were friendly and eager to help. The girls on reception are a credit to the hotel. 3. The location was perfect - near the city centre, but very adjacent to major routes to all parts of Cornwall. 4. We could book a regular table for our evening meals. we thought that the County Arms was the very best and the staff were wonderful and the reception staff KATIE who was the first person we met and we had her on reception for the first two days of our stay she was wonderful.we will be returning and we certainly be stopping at the County Arms Truro. We were greeted by friendly staff on reception the rooms/hotel were very comfortable and clean and the pub had a good atmosphere,also a good quiz on Sunday nights. Location was good for Truro just had to be patient getting out of the car perk on to the main road, but would stay there again. I had a superior room and found it to be extremely comfortable and well appointed. I did not use the bar but I did use the ladies rom and found it to be clean and tidy! I wasn't able to check in until 3 pm but was told it would be fine to park my car in the car park as I had arrived early!. Warm welcome in reception on arrival, which continued into the bar. It was a busy Friday evening when I stayed and I was no trouble at all to the staff who went out of their way to help me, allocate me a table, take my order promptly and all polite and friendly. I will be back. We stayed in a superior room at the back of the hotel. The room was very quiet, very clean and the bed was really comfortable. We had our car so the location was ideal for us with free parking. If you traveled by train you would need to get a taxi from the station. Enjoyed our stay, staff excellent - nothing too much trouble. Rooms very comfortable and clean and had everything you could ask for. Location brilliant for Truro and surrounding areas. The attached pub was also excellent and prices very reasonable. Breakfast including in the price (although it was reasonably priced at an additional £5 each). Bill was a little more than anticipated, mainly because of us using room service to order drinks to room upon arrival. Asked for a sauvignon blanc, expecting a glass but was brought a bottle instead.Our needs were simply for an overnight pit-stop, so this wasn't the cheapest way to get what we needed, but the flip side is that we had a much better overnight stay than we had been expecting. People opening the doors from the dining room to the decking area were letting draughts and the cold air in. I didn't find anything not to like during my stay!. I have problems with my back so the bed was a bit too soft for me but that is nit picking. The flat screen TV could have been somewhat larger. No Sky sports channels. When paying almost £80 per night per room would suggest that it would be an incentive to book there again to have at least continental breakfast included. Restaurant rather cold and service rather slow. On this visit I could clearly hear the TV in the room next door, as there was a connecting door. Nothing. Breakfast chef didn't seem to know what an 'over easy ' egg was. It arrived hard fried. The only comment I need to make is that we couldn't get the air conditioning below 19 degrees which has was a bit hot for us, particularly in the heat wave. Otherwise everything was great and we would definitely recommend it to others. Very small TV screen for the size of the room, Shampoo, soap etc in the bathroom difficult to use. Heating is difficult to set and control. Room cost are on the high side for the type of the hotel and does not include breakfast. Better router for wireless are needed as the reception is very poor at times. The coffee provided in the room wasn't the best quality. Having the cost of breakfast not included in the room rate. Very noisy music in the restaurant - not to our taste. Limited menu in the restaurant - very average pub fare. Pillows rather firm and it would be better to have one firm and one soft on bed. Vehicle exit onto busy main road was sometimes difficult. Large tap and small basin in wet room and not being able to get hot water as the water pressure was so high, it 'showered the user'. poorer choice in new menu-not enough fish, but noticed that the burgers and steaks were popular. Returning to the hotel in the evening and unable to find a seat to relax in was disappointing. Being a non smoker having to sit outside with smokers was not pleasant at all. Main road outside, difficult to get in and out sometimes. The shower was not too efficient, poor flow. I would have liked the continental breakfast included in the price. It is not cheap but with the breakfast would make it excellent value. Cooked breakfast could be extra. N/A. No lift (but plenty of offers to carry baggage) breakfast was ok but felt something was missing... But that could be due to me not being a great morning person! I prefer tea / coffee served to table. I also prefer my food order to be taken from the table -especially as it was just charged to my room. (I needed to go order at the bar) But this wouldn't put me off staying again!. The duvets on our beds were too heavy for the time of year. We had a connecting room and there was no soundproofing whatsoever. The couple next door were quite noisy, which wouldn't have been a problem with normal soundproofing. walk into the town centre....but a minor point. That we only booked one night should of booked two ... We had a room with an adjoining door which probably may have been ok if the occupant hadn't been on his mobile late at night and early hours of the morning. Not very soundproof. Toilet roll holder positioned alongside elbow - vulnerable. Window only opens to first of 3 notches, needs adjustment. Difficult to exit toward Truro ie across outbound traffic on very busy road. I had an evening meal. The staff were great, attentive, friendly, and a nice family atmoshere. Unfortunately the food was not quite up to standard, in terms of quality.I had the liver and bacon with mash potatoes, when it arrived visually it was fine, i regret that taste was poor/lacking. It was however well priced. No real access for disabled patrons. The breakfast, although very good, took a very long time to order. There only seemed to be one member of staff doing all the work. The pub/restaurant could be better in service. It is to late to offer breakfast meny when the cerelals are eaten. The bread basket was emty to long too often. Teabags in a cup is poor treatment. The food is average or less. Air conditioning too cold in bar / restaurant area. Smokers standing near open doorway of smoking area.
