In a word, everything. This trip was booked as a treat for myself and my partner for a weekend in London to see carmen at the Royal Albert Hall (which is comfortable walking distance). Everything about this hotel "made" the weekend, from the minute we stepped through the unassuming entrance, we were pampered. If you are going to find £200 for a night at a hotel in London, find the extra £150 and spoil yourselves, because every now and again, you deserve it! This truly isd (in every sense) a 5**.
all reviews » Although a luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Knightsbridge, there is such a friendly and helpful attitude amongst all the staff. The location is excellent, in a beautiful, quiet street, yet 2 minutes from Harrods. The interior design in the guest rooms and public rooms is pure luxury. This hotel is nothing short of perfect. Excellent location for business (Kensington) and leisure (concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, parks, restaurants), lovely setting in townhouse surrounded by gardens in the middle of the city, excellent and very friendly service, quiet, beautiful decoration, the Honesty Bar! Perfect!. Great location. Very quiet considering how close it is to Harrods. Excellent staff who are helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms very clean and are elegantly designed. Bathroom spacious, especially when considering it is in London. The staff were very friendly and professional. The designer make up of the interior was really vibrant and my wife loved it. The position was superb being on a little tree lined boulevard off the main street in Knightsbridge. We first stayed here when it opened in 2002 and loved it! Second time did not disappoint either. By far my favorite place to stay in London. It feels like home. Great staff, great ambience and wonderful facilities. Very pretty building, and warm welcome. Would also be nice to have a drink w/ other guests but the prices honestly keep that from happening I think. Other than that I have zero complaints. Lack of proper breakfast room meant a lack of attention once breakfast tray arrived - not a major criticism but inconvenient and in our case led to a long wait and mistake over our order. This is why I've given Good not Excellent for the Staff, in every other way they were great. Seriously cannot fault one thing. We wound up getting a very spacious room, but on bottom level. Windows faced the street with absolutely no security!!! Could not leave windows open as people could peer in, also, not secure...!!! Only minus......suggest they bar windows for security and use more opaque screens (or shutters) for privacy!!!. I had some ventilation noise in my room (despite the A/C being off). Nothing. My wife prefers a hotel closer to the tube as she does not like to walk alone so far. A bit small room and bed. Time it took for breakfast to arrive. London weather. nothing. Not much sound insulation between floors so we could hear the guests above us - you have to understand this in a building that is this old though. room in the basement ,a bit noisy in the morning. Nothing really. £4 for a bag of crisps from the mini bar is just irritating on a £400 bill for the night. We didn't get the room we booked. Cost of items in minibar. £4-00 for a small bag of potato crisps !. Difficult to find somewhere to sit for coffee or drinks. No table to eat breakfast on in the morning. lack of an eating area was a little inconvenient but the honesty bar was quirky. Nothing. They have no dining space only 2 very public sitting areas. One of which is wide open to the lobby for having breakfast or any other meal. Also the rooms are beautiful but too small. No restaurant or cocktail bar and bar staff Not really a 5 star hotel without facilities and staff to attendant to your normal needs and requirements.
