Fantastic scenic location, close to centre and all main sights but also in university area with huge choice of great eating places, pubs, museums, cinemas and theatres. Excellent gym on doorstep and wonderful walking routes nearby. Ideal for 5 days of business and 2 days of pleasure. Very good communication from thistle staff - a query was responded to very quickly and there were a number of emails to ensure everything was going ok during my stay, which was great. Very good value for money and made my stay in Edinburgh very enjoyable. The apartment was amazing. spacious, brand new, incredibly comfortable and well equipped. There was everything you could possibly need: dishwasher, fridge, gas hob, oven, toaster, microwave, washer drier, vacuum etc etc. The bath was massive. The area of Edinburgh is also fantastic with lots of shops, restaurants and the beautiful meadows to compliment the city experience. I would not hesitate to book here again. Highly recommended. The apartment is more than I expected, great facilities, they even prepared Olive oil and salt for cooking. Especially the bed is quite comfortable. Wifi is powerful and 2 mins walk to the supermarket. The next building is Marriott Residence Inn but their price is 60% higher, the facilities seemed similar, I think the difference is 24 hrs front desk, Gem center and providing breakfast, so Thistle Residence is really valuable. The apartment was excellent value for money! The staff were very knowledgeable, friendly and down to earth!! There was a Starbucks and a sainsburys a stones throw away that made cooking an easy option (not to mention the kitchen was fully stocked with cooking utensils/saucepans etc which was amazing!) and getting a coffee/hot chocolate for the cold walk around town at this time if year! I will definitely return!!. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and easy to get along with it made the stay better. The apartment was beautiful, it was perfect for a little break away from home. Everything was very clean and tidy and the apartment was kept warm which was good with this cold weather. It was quiet and we were not disturbed by any outside noise. We were met at the door by the owner late on a Friday night to deliver the keys to us personally and give us a tour of the apartment. The apartment itself was stunning. The heating was off so instructions how to put it on would have been helpful - but great service and help was received from the landlord and the flat was warm in no time. The apartment was roomy, warm, comfortable and well equipped. The staff went out of their way to help with any problems, eg arrangements for leaving luggage - a quick phone call was all that was required. It is very convenient for the main sights & for restaurants. There is a Sainsbury Local immediately below for provisions. We were given a personal tour of the apartment and shown how the equipment worked as well as being given useful advice about transport and local services. It's a great place to stay not too far from the city and walking distance from the Edinburgh international conference centre Staff are really friendly, I got lost trying to find the place as my phone sent me in the wrong direction, but the staff were very helpful and came to meet me on the main road. The apartments were in a quiet location yet only a 10 minute walk away from the Royal Mile. The beds were very comfortable and the facilities good with a local shop 2 minutes away to buy your provisions. Scott was very helpful from the minute we booked the apartment, he was on call anytime. I loved the location set just off the centre of Edinburgh but only a short walk away from the shops, pubs etc. The shower in the bathroom was lovely and modern. A little noisy at times but wasn't really an issue (doors slamming in hall, lift etc). Nothing - everything was first class. My only criticism is that I didn't know I had to pay for parking until I arrived. Maybe that was down to me not reading terms and conditions very well but I don't think that was very clearly advertised. We had to leave. There are some construction work going on (spring 2013) + it's was a little bit difficult to find. The oven was new but didn't work properly even though we tried everything (including the timer) it kept turning off. We were woken up several times throughout the night by noisy people in the foyer at the elevator - we were on the ground floor and our bedroom was too close to the front door & foyer. Would've been handy as a self-contained unit to have a small table with chairs to eat at. Some difficulty finding conceirge building due to some current construction but otherwise very happy with the apartment. There was quite a lot of work going on outside on weekdays. The apartment has no reception area as yet and guests nominate a meeting time at the front door. Unfortunately, this means that if you arrive early you are waiting in the wind and rain. Small bathroom can get overheated from the towel racks, which we couldn't figure out how to turn off. Perhaps a few additional hangers in the wardrobe and a hook on the back of the bathroom door would be useful, but apart from that I would be struggling to suggest anything. The controls for the oven were a little complicated. bed a little bit to small for two people; very noisy inside the building; would have been good to know that you shouldn't drive into the parking garage if you booked a parking space via Thistle Residence because they provide an own card (you have to wait for this card then you can drive in); bathtube is really high, it's not easy to get in it and it's even more difficult to get out without hitting (we are 1.73 m and 1.82 m tall);. There was no washer and dryer. It's in a quiet part of the city and no signs are on the building Just make sure you ask by address name and don't call it thistle apartments as no one will know where you mean. The rainy weather didn't allow me walk about and enjoy the city!. Mattress was a bit soft and hardly any coat hangers. Although Scott, the manager can be reached through email or phone, would have been better if there was someone like a front desk service in a hotel. Nothing. Reception was a little hard to find however they are just setting it up so I expect this will improve in time. 5 of us stayed and we ran out of hot water, although it didn't spoil our stay. pillows on bed (need to be thicker). Clock that needed new batteries in the kitchen. The silly door to the shower that meant the bathroom floor was soaked every time we used the shower. Nothing to dislike. Bedroom is small. Hotel office was closed when we arrived. We had to wait 10 minutes for staff to arrive (we freezed). Hard for the taxi to find as it is a new area. Construction work ongoing in the area. The 1 bedroom apartment can be a bit too small if travelling with many children. The only thing I would say is the apartment needed some coat hangers and dishes to place your soap on and your tooth brushes in. On being showed to the serviced apartment the person showing us in said that he did not get time to shampoo the carpet & if we wanted he could get it done when we were out. Although it did not look to bad we thought this was a bit of a odd request & not very professional. There is no reception on site. It would have been nicer if there were so that we can get some help with small things like getting a taxi or asking about direction. washer dryer was a little difficult to figure out. TV did not connect to the channels - this was not a major problem for us and was sorted by a member of staff. I'd love to have a double bed. The existing one is not enough for two adults :-). Slightly noisy but it's a city with new developments being created in the area and the apartments are not that sound proofed. The only thing I would suggest is possibly a shelf in the shower ,in the shower room as the soap etc had to be placed on the floor.This is more for convenience than a dislike. The bed mattress was slightly thin for my liking but adequate.
