We arrived with our son who is wheelchair bound , and the owner couldn't have been more helpful. She even sent his breakfast up to him on a tray!!! FANTASTIC....The building couldnt have been more central!! All in all, a fantastic budget place to stay in Edinburgh. The owner should be very proud , they do a fantastic job, we loved our stay here. We will be recommending No.8 to all our friends , many thanks. .
all reviews » Morag (the owner) was VERY nice and courteous. She greeted us warmly and seemed genuinely interested in what we were doing each day and how we were enjoying Scotland. Also, her breakfast was great and always waiting. Meats, cheeses, huge croissants, choice of cereals and juices. The host Morag was superbly pleasant and nothing was too much trouble, she even offered pastries from the breakfast table to take as a snack later. The icing on the cake was that she saw my birthday cards in our room and gave me a bottle of wine to celebrate!!. I have appreciated everything. Morag is a perfect housewife that is why we feel like at home! Thanks to her for her kindness. Rooms are clean and absolutely comfortable. Concerning the price, the value is excellent. I will come back for sure. The guest house was very convenient, clean and comfortable. Morag made sure we had everything we needed, including gluten free breakfast items for my daughter. She was very friendly and made our stay very easy and comfortable. As the name suggests, this hotel is very central, being only about 10 minutes walk from railway and bus stations. They are very helpful to take your luggage up, but its still 4 flights to trudge up after a day out walking. Also, the internet was very poor at the top floor. Only worked 50% of the time. Can` t think of anything I was unhappy with, if you require en-suite bathroom make sure to book it. There wasn't anything!. Nothing. Only negative were other guests not cleaning bathroom behind them & sometimes having to wait to use bathroom facilities. On the plus side- the owners let us check out a little later to give us extra time to get organised. U have a communal bathroom only bad thing. Didn't realise at time of booking was a shared bathroom (may have missed) but was ok in practice. Shared Bathrooms. Breakfast was lacking. Not much selection. we could hear the couple next door to us talking at early hours in the morning. Walls not very sound prove. Not having own bathroom however that was due to having booked last single room as a whole was perfect for what needed and would definately stay again. noise but it's a given due to the location. Next time would book e suite (just as I'm fussy) bathroom was lovely and clean though. Maybe a bit expensive. Shared bathroom. Shared toilets. Nothing to complain!. We arrived and checked out outside the parking officers' hours so we had free parking right at the guesthouse doorParking would have been a problem otherwise. Ensuite would of been nice. Car parking was 20min walk away. my room is in the top of the building which cannot use the wifi.
