The rooms were nice and warm and very clean the room had a safe which was useful to keep and valuables room service was very prompt. A bus stop right in front of the hotel straight to town and to the airport number 12 26 and 31 all take you to Victoria street day pass costs £2.50. The quality of accom was excellent and the price was just perfect for us. Well done for not putting up your prices on rugby weekends as many of the hotels in Edinburgh....unfortunately we cant get booked in again for the England game.
all reviews » Access to public transportation. Very easy to catch a bus into the City Centre and the attractions. The hotel was nicer than I was led to believe by one of the bloggers who said it "was a tired hotel". Room was a nice size, lovely and clean, hotel facilities were excellent.Great value for money, not to far from centre and excellent bus service to get you there. 40mins walking, 5-10mins bus journey.The cleanliness, the efficiency of the staff, the modern decor and the ease of getting in to the city and the information provided for this. Hotel has great location close to the airport. We booked 2 rooms but only used one due to a member of our party being ill, as this was a non-refundable rate the hotel staff would not negotiate or refund the cost?. It was expensive to eat and drink in the hotel. For a 4* hotel, the swimming/gym facilities are sub-par and could have been better. Also, the breakfast prices are far too high. Light simple snacks e.g. a chicken sandwich, this was not available, my mother (aged 90) and friend requested something light but not spicy, this could not be catered for.Very small pool. Good location. Some of the restaurant staff a little too pushy when reviewing the menu before entering the restaurant.The reception staff - arrogant, bumptious, rude, unhelpful. Far from city centre. Fortunately, bus servivce in Edinburgh is excellent.a little bit pricey. The phone in our room could not receive incoming calls for some reason, which necessitated assistance from the hotel staff (see above), breakfast area very busy and noisy, toaster required bread to make 3 trips through before actually becoming toast which caused a huge que for toast.Booking a double room and getting a twin room -Did not make complaint at the time as knew hotel was fully booked up (Hogmanay) but had to push beds together. plumbing was very loud when you flushed the toilet. The size of the breakfast room appeared too small for the amount of guests that were staying in the hotel, had to stand in a lengthy queue for the self service breakfast and tables were not set. Also not enough breakfast staff clearing tables etc to encompass an easy turnaround or serving tea and coffee. in need of refurb!. The bed was a bit soft. We were in a room by a fla roof that had a very loud air conditioning system. The coffee/milk/sugar were ot replaced so did not have enough for the next morning.The room was a little expensive and the restaurant was also expensive. Seperate charges for everything. Internet not free even in Businesslounge. Bill was initially wrong.I found it a little difficult to decipher what we were entitled to repercentage off which drinks. Staff a little over zealous at breakfast, Ifelt a bit harrassed! Fabulous breakfast though. no, value for money. I was charged twice in my credit card, once during checkin and once during check-out. I was told that during check-in the card will not be charged. Small car park and we were charged £10 for the overflow (by the zoo) and told we would be refunded by the hotel. We were only refunded £2.50 which was the original cost of the car park. Not really the hotels issue but it was not a pleasant surprise at checkout in the morning.
