My wife and I stayed for two nights and for dining in the restaurant for one night we were given a free upgrade to a large double room with sea view - which was magnificent. The hotel food was superb as was the service from checking in to the express check-out. Use of the car park was free which was also an added bonus. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful - thank you. We went to Brighton for a short mid-week break after illness. We chose this hotel because it had parking facilities and for its brilliant location. We were delighted with our choice in every respect. The restaurant was also excellent if rather expensive.

The room was too hot during the first night despite having air conditioning on.The bar prices in the hotel were completely over the top and breakfast should have been included in the price. Breakfast poor - good selection but overcooked/dried up .I was disappointed to find that the pool/ spa area closed early on the evening I arrived at the hotel. Not that I can think of. charge for slippers and toothbrushes. air condition is out of order neeeds to be renewed.The price of drinks! Unfortunately the boiler went wrong and there was no hot water or heating on Valentines night! Water next day was luke warm only as running off a generator. Our bill was reduced for the inconvenience and we felt the staff did all that they could under the circumstances. It was a shame we could not open our window as that spoiled the experience of a seaveiw. And the room was a bit smelly. Everything was nice. the bar staff and the cost of the food. A double bed consisted of two singles pushed together. Not very comfortable. beds too hard. The room was comfortable but needed refurbishing, particularly the wallpaper which was coming away from the walls. Old fashioned hairdryer in bathroom needs replacing, I brought my own. Would have liked a well stocked mini-bar which was completely empty in our room.Not clear that the car park was £8 a night and I could not pay in the hotel. Some items on the breakfast buffet selection were cold, ie baked beans were freezing. Nobody came to our table ie tea/coffee/toast until we had to go and get somebody and ask. Air conditioning in the room not working.Definately not a four star hotel - the wallpaper was peeling, thebathroom was very dated and the doors were damaged. Bathroom could do with refurbishment.parking is a problem in brighton, should be concessions for customers. Not really I wasnt aware that the spa was out of use at time of booking.

Any bookings of 10 rooms or more will be subject to the client receiving a group contract directly from the hotel. Please note, car parking is offered on a first arrived, first served basis. An additional charge applies of GBP 20 per day. The Hotel Entrance to the car park on the Kingsway is closed for 2 weeks starting on Monday, 13 November. Customers will need to enter the car park via Black Lion Street. Children are welcome to use the pool area however those aged under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. One adult cannot supervise more than 2 children.
