Good size (single) room, excellent bathroom. The iron and ironing board in the room was a very welcome feature. very friendly staff. friendly and helpful staff. Quality of food.Comfort and warmth of the rooms. The reception staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly. Very comfortable, friendly staff and good value for money. Very friendly and attentive staff - cool under pressure too as they had a huge wedding at the attacted Lodge to deal with. Good atmosphere and great food. The history of the Hotel is very interesting (Dickens stayed there) and they could make more of this.

Staff were extremely pleasant.No but it would be nice if the bar stocked crisps or nuts. Coffee was not nice. They steak is promoted as first class. The sirloin I had was rubbish! It spoiled an otherwise excellent meal. I was too hungry to complain. the lift was useful however quite small and dated. the room could do with a little tlc concerning decor,but very clean and tidy. I would sugget that the tea makings be placed on a tray and obviousrather than hidden in a cupboard!. A tray would avoid spillage of waterfrom poor pouring kettles on to furniture. bathroom was a little dated but functional. No glasses provided in the bathroom. It was much too warm everywhere.As is usual in older hotels, plenty of stairs and only one small lift with doors that must be closed manually, with a fair amount of force. kettle hidden in wardrobe, went to bar for cup of tea when would have prefered to have it in the room before realising. unless you want a cooked breakfast the choice is very limited. There were no rolls or croissants, there was only one small loaf of bread ,and no knife to cut a slice. no,enjoyable stay,. A little tired for the money. tv stand was too low,tv could not be watched when in bed. There were 2 extra put-up beds in the room which were in the way!. Room was a bit creaky and decor dated but at the price there really wasn't anything wrong with it.I booked several weeks before I arrived. The hotel was hosting a wedding and the room I was given was immediately over the wedding disco. I had to move to a tiny single room just to get some sleep. During the wedding season it makes sense to place wedding guests staying at the hotel near the disco, not travellers. The manager blamed the staff but is this not his problem?. A bit shabby and could do with more info on where to go etc in the foyer. The décor in my room was very dated, and needed a re-vamp. room was cold radiator turned off, bathroom ditto.small bed. rooms were very small and you could not see the tv from the bed as it was on a low stand on the floor there was also no chairs in which to watch the tv so you had to sit on the edge of the bed. rushed at breakfast your hot meal was bought to you before you had even finshed your cornflakes. Drink in the bar was very dear a glass of wine was £7.00. Food- poor preparation- scrambled egg like rubber- opted for fresh;friends said "no olive sauce on meal" and it was there (she is an expert food advisor); toast slow in coming and not at all for friends if not reminded; other tables slow to be cleared after breakfast- including child chair- so unsightly. Think owners need to be more hands on to see how it looks for guests- poorest in many years. The bed was hard and caused aches. The bath was an uncomfortable shape.The room was cold (enclosed fan heater took the edge off it but they donot really warm the room).Surly staff. Poor breakfast and it finishes at 09.30 (this is not advertised). This used to be a good hotel but it looks and feels run-down.

From The South:
m1, m6, a74, follow the signs for Stirling, m73, m80, m9 to junction 11. At junction 11 there is a large roundabout; take the fourth turning on the left which is sign posted Bridge of Allan. Follow this road (a9) into the village centre, where you will find the Royal Hotel on the left-hand side.

From The North:
join the a9 and follow the signs for Stirling/Glasgow. At the junction of the a9 there is a large roundabout. Take the second turning on the left, which is sign posted Bridge of Allan. Follow this road (a9) into the village centre, where you will find the Royal Hotel on the left hand side.

From Edinburgh Airport:
take the M9 towards Stirling/Perth to junction 11; follow the directions from junction 11 as above.

From Glasgow Airport:
take the M8 towards Glasgow and the M80 towards Stirling, join the M9 and follow the directions as above.
By Rail: take the train to Bridge of Allan train station. When leaving the station turn right onto the main road (Henderson Street). Continue through the village, seeing the Royal Hotel on the left-hand side.
