We booked a 4-poster with Jacuzzi for a last-minute weekend break. We were not disappointed. Trevor, the owner made us feel really welcome, showed us around the property and took us up to our top floor spacious en-suite room. This room had beautiful views over the church grounds, park and the hills beyond. On-site parking was available for all guests. The buffet style breakfast was extremely varied and plentiful and the breakfast room was a good size and very comfortable. Overall an excellent e.
all reviews » Midweek rates in November were very good. Conveniently located hotel near the centre with plenty of off-street parking, which a lot of places in Ambleside do not have. The bedroom was not large but adequate, the kingsize bed being comfortable. Large bathroom with spa bath. Cold buffet breakfast was extensive and very good. Pleasant helpful efficient staff. Extremely kind and friendly staff, with great advise and easy going manner. The whole place has a great vibe with warmly decorated, clean comfortable rooms that worked great for us - parents and kids alike. All Ambleside restaurants and shops are within 15 minutes walk, yet it's in a peaceful spot with parking. We'd definitely stay again!. He also saw we had a bottle of champagne and offered to put it on ice for us. location and the fact that the lady manager stayed back to greet us when we arrived 3 hours after we expected to at 8.30pm. She also helped with the luggage. Parking was great. WiFi signal was good and the spa bath was really relaxing. Comfortable and clean. Car park, which is a definite bonus in Ambleside! Location- good, in the centre with only a minute's walk to restaurants and pubs. 15mins walk to the ferry at Waterhead. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The entire Lodge was well maintained and very clean. It is across the road from a large park and an easy walk to most things in Ambleside. Only downside was getting cold water out of the bathroom wash hand basin, the water often came out very warm. Nothing. Nothing. We were top of the house, which meant taking luggage up and down 5 lots of stairs. No elevator. Too many stairs. Reception not manned all the time, but this was clear on booking and not really a problem for us as we arrived quite early. Would have been more of an issue had we been arriving late. Ok for us but alot of stairs if you have the four poster room on top floor. Nothing!. After 4 days, I ended up really missing scrambled eggs and porridge as the buffet breakfast was continental. I know we were told this on the spec, but its surprising what your body misses!. Nothing. The bed was bit firm for me. Fairly expensive for B&B and room a bit dated. Not a thing. creakey floor boards in room 15. No negatives. Decor very dated. Soundproofing a problem we were kept awake until the early hours by loud Irish voices coming from the room above. Room and bathroom slightly tight on room. Room on top floor so lots of stairs (recent back problem) Beds a little small. The room was perfect EXCEPT the curtains!!!. We wanted to sleep but the poor thin quality of the curtains which let the light through was awful. We told one of the staff who said she would let management know about it. When you have children they need a dark room to sleep in. no Complaints just small comment it was a lovely four poster bed but mattress a little to hard. Due to bank holiday weekend prices were a bit high. It was all good!. No milk jugs. breakfast a bit crowded. Having to walk up 4 floors to the bedroom. the coffee in the room. Continental breakfast OK but would have preferred English cooked. No cooked English breakfast. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.
