Ali Baba Suite was perfectly located about a 5min walk from the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet). The surrounding area was safe and friendly - the staff at Marmara cafe next door are trustworthy and friendly, so don't dismiss their help! My friend and I were upgraded to the sea view room even though we had booked a standard double room, and this was definitely a very comfortable room with a fantastic view of the ocean. The bathroom was clean and the shower was perfect, our beds were made every day and.
all reviews » At first we really want to thank the very friendly and caring hotel team as they were always at help with finding some beautiful spots to visit, romantic places to see at night or other details of Istanbul life! The hotel is not too big (4 guest rooms) and 2 of them had a marvellous view onto the Bosphorus. One room of them has a great terrace where you can have even a late breakfast ;-) The place of the hotel is ideal as it takes only 5 minutes to Blue Mosque/ Hagia Sophia while the "Muezzin c. Breakfast brought to our room. Extras over and above the typical Turkish breakfast, like banana, apple, raisin cake, basket of bread. Access to the kitchen across the hall which we were encouraged to use to make tea or coffee or use the kitchen ware. A large space that included a private outdoor patio. Large, flat screen TV. Even though there is a travel agency connected to the Ali Baba, I appreciated that they weren't pushy about tours or travel services. Good value for the location. Nice room at a good price, with breakfast thrown in too. Great location only 2 minutes away from the Blue Mosque. The owner, Mustapha - Very friendly and helpful. He even suggested that we return the apple tea we'd bought and switch it for a better, and cheaper version. He runs a travel agency ( at the bottom of the suites ) so is able to arrange all the trips and tours you need, rather than risk getting them from some of the guys hassling you on the streets. We choose this hotel because it had one of the best reviews on letsbookhotel.com and it appeared to be a very good choice. The location is perfect and the hotel was pretty easy discoverable. The staff was very nice and helpful. We checked out in the morning, but still wanted to walk around the city until the evening, so they let us keep out baggage in the hotel and enjoy our walk. The room was very small and dated, the lighting was poor, especially in the bathroom (difficult to see your face in the mirror, let alone shave), there were no hooks to hang clothes in the bathroom. Overall, the appearance was a little shabby, stark, and out of date. It's a cheap, no-frills place to stay if you are using your room as a place to sleep and not much more. Permanent water on the floor in tiny bathroom due to open shower on the wall (never saw it before); noise from the room above; fridge as a night- table; light for reading without switch; walls in room and bathroom which urgently need renovation; dirty terrace and chairs. Value of money A/C was not working Breakfast was not good. Bad location, Worse than expected.(Rating in website was very high.).
