Was a fun and quirky hotel with fish swimming in the restaurant. real indoor/outdoor feeling all the time with the excellent swimming pool which was quiet considering it was only a wall away from the street. Room was palatial with a marvellous spa bath and huge bathroom. Very good breakfast which was cooked to order, no stale buffet items, and the staff checked if you wanted any more food or drinks during the service. Very good selection of restaurants locally within a few minutes walk and only.
all reviews » Room 206 was beautiful and a taste of the old Thailand teak and carvings decor. A welcome respite after a day of physical effort walking , touring and experiencing Chaing Mai. Cool room with all amenities and private. Charming padlocked door of old Siam style. Proximity to the restaurants, bars , markets, wats and nightlife made the old city location ideal. A little confusion at breakfast mainly due to some staff not converscent with English but willing to please and rectify . Nice to have a. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room is huge, nicely designed and clean. The bed is very comfortable and shower+jacuzzi were super! Breakfast is big and of good quality (don't be shy, if you are still hungry, ask for more and they will serve you again!). The location is great, right in the centre. It hotel is a bit expensive for Thailand standards, but to get the same level of comfort and luxury in Europe you'll need to pay 3 or 4 times more:excellent quality/price ratio!. Alice and I both really enjoyed our 4 night stay at Sirilanna hotel.The staff are great.Decor is beautiful in the lanna style.The hotel is small and within the old walled area of Chiang Mai so it really is walking distance to most locations, or a short Tuk Tuk ride. It always felt very safe and we loved the pool after a busy days adventuring .Sirilana is close to lots of great authentic thai foodstops and the insect museum around the corner is a must visit. stayed there before and loved it, so went back ...it was my daughters birthday and the staff brought her a birthday cake and surprised her at the room door singing happy birthday a time she will never forget ,thankyou the staff are great and tours organized without hassle , a very personal hotel keep up the good work. We were upgraded to a beautiful room with stained glass windows/doors, teak fittings, beautiful bathroom. Breakfast was excellent every day. Location was an easy walk everywhere. Hotel has class and staff very helpfull. Especially Sophia who was available all day for any questions and suggestions on what to do. It is an excellent boutique hotel in a fantastic location. They try to make the customer anytime. Few lights which were broken on our arrival had been fixed the morning after. Asked for an extension cable because no plug in next to the desk and got it the morning after. The Sirilanna is expensive but worth it we thought. The salt water pool is a real treat, the location is quiet but central and the beds are very comfortable!! Also the on site tour booking agent Sophia is very helpful for picking the best things to do and see!!. The staff were very warm and friendly, the room clean and comfortable. Croissants were excellent. Travel agent inhouse was unfortunately more expensive than direct dealings, understandable due to having overhead. We didn'ty utilise that service. It was all great. If I really have to say something "bad", the laundry service is too overpriced...50 Meters away from the hotel there is a laundry where you can get your clothes washed for 30 THB/kg, whilst in the hotel is kind of 60-70 thb per piece of clothing. everything very good. Pool looked a bit tired. We had originally booked a room overlooking the pool but were glad we were upgraded away from this as the balconies all seemed to face a busy road. They charge on our credit card all the booking when I preferred to pay by cash. They didn't confirm the email requesting the pick up at the airport... Maybe because it is free? They should have proper cortins to make darker the room, after the sunrise you can not sleep more because the Sun is in front of your eyes. I think the hotel is a little overpriced since there are so many less expensive options, however we enjoyed staying in such an upscale hotel after a night or two in a much cheaper guesthouse. When checking in they led me to the room before the prior occupants had moved out, which was a surprise! Water takes at least two minutes to warm up. Small mosquito problem if the door or windows are opened as the hotel has only 3 floors. No lifts. Not a good sleep because drapes did not block out city light. Really need to get black out drapes. Perfect for me except that. recommendations for tours was not a value add - seemed uninformed and we did not get great value for the tour we booked thru the hotel. Could be loud...also unyeilding mosquitos which we have not suffered thru elsewhere in Thailand at night. Lack of A/C in public areas, especially breakfast room. The breakfast could have been a bit more varied. Too much heavy furniture, its all nice but made the room crowded. Nothing. The room had bed bugs. Quality of service was very average. Lots of detail was lacking. The staff seemed generally disinterested in the guests. On the final day they encouraged an early check out with some story about the traffic problem in getting to the airport. The journey actually took twelve minutes even though the hotel wanted us to allow two hours. If they wanted us to vacate early then they should have been honest. I will not stay at the Sirilanna again. Staff were not helpful. We asked about places we could visit and the concierge was trying to force us to do things we didn't want.
