The staff was absolutely great. Sake (spelling) was very welcoming at reception and incredibly friendly. We were lucky to be assigned the two bed room on the bottom floor, which is highly preferred if you get the choice - as the higher you go in the building, the hotter it gets due to the sun! The room was comfy and had it's own attached bathroom. The beds are what you commonly see at budget backpacker hostels - not a mattress but instead the standard semi-solid lounge mats wrapped in a bed sh.
all reviews » The young guy who owns the guesthouse is simply the best hotel staff we found in more than 2 weeks in Thailand. The GH is an old Studentsdorm that he is repairing to convert it in a great GH. The location is perfect: a little far from the busy Sunday walking street but within a walking distance from all spots in the city. We slept in the room in the 1st floor: basic Double bed fan room but enough regarding our necessities: we use the GH only to sleep and an A/C in Chiang mai is not necessary a. We really liked the staff. Sake was very helpful and always nice. The location was quite good. It is close to the north gate and a very nice temple. Sake can arrange transport to and from airport, activities like jungle trekking (good price), or any other thing you may need. Ofc the rooms are what you pay. We stayed in two different rooms, being the first one smaller and second one quite big (for the money you pay). It was clean, no bugs, no bad smell. Hot water, working fan. We really enjoyed . Well situated, I went to Sindyguesthouse with my father for Songkran festival. It was perfect to us. Sakki, the owner, is one of the kindest man I have ever met. He was always caring about our well being, calling my father "papa" (dad in french) haha ! He is a very sentimental boy, the name of his guesthouse is good proof of that... Ask him the story of it... It was terrible and just a tourist trap!. The bathroom was quite small but the shower was powerful and great. At times the room was quite hot as the fan wasn't on when we came back, however, sleeping with the fan on was alright. *Fascilities are little bit old (but the staff said he is trying to make them better and better, step by step). Room wasn't cleaned whilst we stayed. hot weather. Nothing!!!. The room was behind the reception .. It was a little noisy. Tv didnt work, not a big deal. Nothing. bathroom very small, but clean. No air conditionning. One room didn't have a flushable toilet, one room didn't have a sink (just a shower head over the toilet), drains in bathrooms backed up and you end up standing in a few inches of water, plumbing smells quite bad at times, got charged for towels since there was a stain on them (but we didn't do it) and almost got charged for a sheet, its cheap, you can't expect much I guess. NO privacy. You could hear and see the reception from the room through the window, and so people from the reception could look into the room, since curtains were too transparent and were moving due to the air made by the fan. Bathroom was extremely small. A little hot in third floor,second floor be better. Low doorsills, banged my head several times. Very small bathroom, when you clean your hands water falls on the floor (no water pipe!) and you get your feet wet. The room is unconfortable ~~~~.
