The staff was extremely helpful. They gave us a room with a large terrace which was perfect for our dog. The hotel is a quick 5 minute drive from downtown Lucerne and the family restaurant in the hotel was good was no more expensive than retaurants downtown. The parking and in-room internet were actually free and the playground was perfect for our daughter. Everything was really perfect. The location of the hotel is very convenient for those who would like to visit Lucerne. The personnel is very polite, helpful and also very flexible. Our room was comfortable for 4 persons and it was really clean. The breakfast was also good. Good value for money!!!.
all reviews » Balm is an excellent hotel; its rooms are spotless and beautifully decorated; breakfast is very good indeed (we did not use the restaurant for other meals). The staff are friendly and helpful. The railway station is 7 minutes walk and buses to Luzern pass the door. The room was quaint but modern...a lovely room to stay in. The shower nozzle was the best we have come across! Breakfast was excellent with a lovely outlook. The children also enjoyed the petting zoo behind the hotel.Great view from very spacious room; fantastic, green and lush neigborhood; terrific food both breakfast and in the bistro; very efficiently run with high service level;. very nice and clean room, brand new furnitures; queit neighborhood; big parking lot free of charge; plentiful breakfast; only 4km to Luzern. We didn't know this ahead of time. However, this did not prevent us from finding plenty of places to eat.The children that were running up and down the stairs and knocking on our door. They had some sort of family reunion and the parents didn't seem to feel the need to watch what their kids were doing. Tiny point that for such a fantastic restaurant there was no english translations of the menus so you are reliant on whoever translated for you. At the prices it woudl be a shame if something was not as expected. Food is stunning though.no elevator had to carry bags to second floor. The was no lift up to the 2nd floor (3rd level) and no help provided to carry the luggage up. We expected that a sall refrigerator be in the room (as we had in all other hotels). There wasn't a bell boy who help with the luggages. For us it not important but as we said earlier, The web have to mention it for an old guests. but, for us it was great and we believe we stay in the same hotel in our next time in Luzern. There was nothing I didn not like.Their advise about where to go and visit was poor. Meggen is a small suberb and has few facilities.people upstairs were noisy late into the night. The lack of a lift gave me a hard time carrying the suitcases. I think that the hotel will be greatly improved if they install a lift.The restaurant at the hotel is a gourmet restaurant and extremely pricy. I would recommend that booking.com indicates that in its description of the hotel. Dinner one evening cost almost as much as the room. Our family room consisted of a double bed and pull out couch, all other hotels we stayed at during our trip had 4 beds in a family room and were priced less than our stay at the Balm. the third bed was very unconfortable sofa, the restorant did't work for two days, the bar was closing quite early. the hotel was entirely a smoking hotel. Spend rooms and even spendier food. This is probably as much due to location as anything.The double sofa bed - most uncomfortable.

Please note that the restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but breakfast is available every day. The restaurant is also closed in the last week of December and the first week of January, as well as for 2 weeks in February and March. From Highway A4 you take Exit Küssnacht a. R., Merlischachen, Meggen and follow the signs to Meggen. The Hotel Balm is now on your left hand side.
From Lucerne Train Station bus No. 24 will bring you to Meggen in 15 minutes. Bus stop "Balm".
