We spent a week in the Hotel Lauria, it's a great hotel. Our room had been beautifully redecorated and renovated, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom excellent. The staff were very helpful, immediately answering questions (including in emails before arrival !). Our room was on the third floor and overlooked the rest of the city and out to sea. The hotel is in just about the best location you could ask for; right on the Rambla Nova for restaurants and bars (which by the way is also one.

Despite hotel parking being full there is municipal carpark next to the hotel and the parking fee is subsidised by the hotel. 13 euros instead of 25 euros for 24 hour parking. The hotel car park charge is 12.50 euros. he staff were pleasnt and helpful. the room was good size good facilities and air con. Despite being on the main street of Tarragona it is set back so very quiet at night. Both old city and new are 10 minutes walk an. The hotel has a slightly faded retro charm, which I personally really liked. I liked the location. clean. The map of directions from the motorway is misleading and the complex oneway road system means it is easy to get lost and find yourself well outside the city. Only disturbing thing was a noise on friday morning from a lower floor. They´ve been reforming those old-fashioned rooms during our stay. The walls are a bit thin !. Our room was a little seventies in style and a bit tired looking, but given that we were able to have our labrador with us in the room and given the secure parking and the hotel's position; this is a very minor criticism. Not a problem, but a little worn and in need of the refurbishment which is currently going on. The breakfast selection is a bit poor and the same every day (small fruits and vegetables variety, no olives), but, when considering the 6 euros/person cost, it is worth to check it out. Poor WIFI reception in the room was poor, good connection was available in bathroom only. The only fault was that the pillows were the hardest we have ever seen. No negative comments. Dont have breakfast there, but nearby, in any local cafe. Staff not very helpful nor very kind. I had read on your previous reviews about the smell alas when we got to our room it was apparent bad drain smell. I spoke to the desk and they said they will have a word with the room maid ok for 24 hours but came back. So I went out and bought an air freshener, it helped but I could not understand how they can get away with NO extract fan in the toilet. But you pick up the smell in various parts of the hotel. It must be very old drains. Receptionist was quite cold and not particularly helpful. A bit down-at-the-heels. Very tired and dated. I was not satisfied with the breakfasts. staff staff staff!!!.
