Stay here! This hostel is nicer than many hotels.I had a private double room with ensuite and it was huge! The room had dark blinds to block noise, air conditioning and an enormous, comfortable bed. I had the best night sleep in my whole European travels at UHostel. When I first saw its position on the map I thoght it might be too far out of the city but it really isn't. It's walking distance to all sights or a short metro ride if you wish. The hostel has a fantastic kitchen and dining area, .
all reviews » After 2 months of travelling I found just 2 hostels is will be back - Uhostel Madrid is one of them! Disigned in a fresh art-deco, this hostel has big & cosy rooms (I used 6-girly and 12-mixed rooms without any doubt), comfortable new beds, excellent showers with high pressure of hot water, modern very felicitous chill-out zone and extremely friendly dining area. If you will be lucky to meet Pablo - he will make your day/ evening/ night! He always knows exactly how to make your time in Madr. Right off the bat I fell in love with the customer service. Natalie, the receptionist who took my reservation was very welcoming and insightful. She gave me all the details I needed and answered 100% of my questions with no mis-understandings. There is Wi-fi/AC throughout the whole Hostel. Quiet beds and adequate space for luggage in lockers. Nice bar with a good atmosphere and great events set during the day. The free walking tour given by Harry was one of the best I had. They pick you up from. I loved that the hostel organised activities for the guests to participate in each and every day, which is a bonus for solo travelers or travelers that are keen to meet other people and get great exposure to the city. In particular I'd like to mention by name Pablo and Erica who were involved in a number of the social activities organised by the hostel. They were enthusiastic, friendly and passionate about what they do. I stayed in a number of other hostels on this trip and u Hostels was by far. This hostel was brilliant! Staff were super friendly, the map they gave us was really useful. The dorm rooms are really spacious, and you get your own power cord at your bed. They have a cinema room which is amazing, and the showers feel like you are at home. The hostel also offered something fun to do every night which was always pretty cheap. Best guide - Pablo. Room was clean, bathrooms were spotless, and the location was great - right between two metro stops that connected with multiple metro lines. Free wifi, computer in the lounge area that was always available. It's too bad this hostel is not a chain, because I would definitely stay here if it was in other cities!. Plentiful number of comfortably sized showers and toilet stalls, nice staff, comfortable bedding & bed, very clean, scan card to get into rooms, nice property, 20 minute walk down a main street to center of downtown, map & free walking tour from hostel, hostel activities, quiet location- I'd happily stay again. The check in was a breeze and all the staff was friendly. Pablo was very helpful in organizing activities,very friendly and knowledgeble. Kudos to those who designed it. I stayed in a 12 bed dorm for €14. The dorm is so big that I can imagine that even if you're the 12th person in and everyone is traveling with life size suitcases you'd still have room to move. Great atmosphere, staff and location. The set out of the hostel made it feel very friendly and there were lots of places to sit and relax. The activities offered were great, especially rhe walking tour. This is one of the best hostels I've stayed in - very clean, well organized, lovely rooms (we stayed in the doubles), great location and views from the windows of beautiful Spanish buildings. The design and space of the hostel was amazing, with the rooms and bathrooms very clean. Also Pablo organizes some very fun pub crawls and flamenco nights that show cases the best of Madrid. Pablos activities took u to the heart of Madrid, I particularly loved the local flamenco. The hostel was clean, and having free wifi was really helpful. All the staff were great. We had a few teething problems to start with but overall we were very happy with our choice of accommodation. No sauce pans to cook and they only have 2 cooking stoves for the entire Hostel. A bit aways from the SOL. The free breakfast could have been a little more extensive, for example, cereal could have been offered in addition to the two slices of toast and juice/milk. The only bad thing was the wifi was down for a few days we were staying and it took a while to fix. Other than that bloody excellent. Unfriendly/harsh staff - because I didn't know Spanish, the person at the desk treated me with a rude attitude, which I think would have been less likely had I been fluent in Spanish. Breakfast is only two pieces of plain toast, some jam, and milk or juice (but better than nothing!). There was a problem with electrical outlets in rooms while I was there, room was a bit cramped (6 bed girl dorm) and there was nowhere to put things. Skimpy free breakfast of milk/juice and toast. For 3 Euros you could have fruit, a mini muffin and ham and cheese. There is no one do do the cleaning after a certain timing and at times you may find the washrooms dirty or the lack of toilet papers.. Dorm faces a busy street, so bring earplugs. Breakfast was a bit pathetic. nothing come up with me... Breakfast is quite poor, not worth waking up earlier. Nothing. We were put on a floor with a huge groups of young people, who partied hard and very late! This is one of the risks of staying in a hostel (on a Saturday night), but given that there are 5 floors of rooms, perhaps people like us (middle aged couple) could be put on a floor with similar lame-o's?. I do not have any complain about this place. Free breakfirst is not enough. Some of the staff was not very polite. The top bunks did not have proper fences so I was afraid to fall off the bed cos I move a lot when sleeping! :D. Breakfast was minimal compared to other hostels in Europe. Payment is required for hot beverages and cereal which was unexpected @ breakfast. it was quite noisy until 5am on the Saturday night outside the hostel on the streets. The hostel itself was very quiet and respectful of the night hours. ...snoring roomates ;-). - breakfast is included in the room rate, but this is a very basic breakfast. Possibility to upgrade with a little extra cost. - towels not included. I think it would be better if there is a very weak light that doesn't bother others in the room. The private light is too bright at night, I think. The double storey bed is very high and difficult to clime and the stair is not very safe. One room that I stayed in was great while the private bathroom one was boiling hot and there was no rail on the top bunk which was a little concerning and therefore didn't sleep well that night!. Nothing,absolutely nothing. They stop selling beer too early, but one block from the hostel you can get a beer and tapas for a good price. some of the staff had a bit of an attitude. -Staffs are not very friendly. -Special doors of the elevator is annoying and time-consuming. Unfortunately due to an error with the booking out 2 friends were given a double bed instead of a twin but a cano bed quickly resolved the situation and the free breakfast and beer was appreciated.
