What people say
Clean and comfortable room. Helpful staff. Excellent value for money. Its location near the pedestrianized area around the Plaza Mayor makes it very quiet. I have stayed in many hotels in Madrid and this was by far the quietest. Fantastic location, just 20 metres from Plaza Mayor. Room small but very clean and all reasonable facilities. Really friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable bed! I will stay here next time I come to Madrid.all reviews »
The hotel was really a good choice. It is in the real center of the city, the staff was nice and helpful and the room really neat and clean. We really enjoyed. Central location really close to metro, plenty of bars and places to eat close by, staff spoke great English and we had no prblems there at all.the staffs are great and can speak english well. they will help you if have any problem.nice and clean.perfect location. Great location, great value, clean room, Internet available. would definitely come back.3euro breakfast in room was better nicely presented and even the toast was still warm. Its proximity to the centre of Madrid, its cleanliness and its staff were wonderful. super near to the centre of the city.the service is excellent. Central location of hotel with a friendly atmosphere.Location, clean inside, very nice and practical. reception and service were incredible. the rooms were really csoy and clean. it was very nice location. The staff was first class. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. Thelocation could not have been better. We were in the middle of all thatwas going on during the Easter week festivities in Madrid.Excellent value, very clean and helpful friendly staff. A great location. location was very good for foot traveller.the rooms are so different as same price. Helpful staff, location and price.Every member of the hotel staff knows at least 3 languages, which isvery convenient. The room was clean. Breakfast is a good value forSpain. Just be aware that Spanish breakfasts are not what you might beused to. The hotel's breakfast may seem small at first, but it's as bigas it gets for Spain. We looked for a decently priced, larger breakfastelsewhere but could not find a cheaper place. 1. Very, very friendly staff! 2. sparkling clean throughout! 3. Fantastic location: about 10 meters from the Plaza Mayor. 4. Did I say sparkling clean? 5. Located in an old, 16th century building full of character, yet fully updated. 6. Clear information brochure in suite. 7. Full bath including bidet. 8. Smart, modern decor. Nicely tiled bathroom. 9.Located in the central pedestrian area (plaza Mayor, metro Sol), a clean room, friendly English-speaking staff and a reasonable price!. it is a nice clean hostal with a central location really close to everything Friendly staff.freindly staff, clean room, excelent location I would recommend this hostal to anyone. Location, size of the room and the fact it was more like a two-three star hotel.tiny room perfect for short stays, clean room and v. good staff. The location is escellent..very central, close to everything. better to stay in the street side room. the hotel was in an excellent place, next to one of the best plazas of madrid and next to the center puerta de sol.The staff was very nice and helpful, but the room is only for sleeping and having a shower in a warm and tidy room. The rooms are small, but if you don't intend to go to madrid to stay in,it's perfect!!If you have heavy luggage, use the alivator!!!!!The breakfast is not rich, but you should try spanish food anyway!!. very good location, close to city centre, nice clean and comfortable room, good value for money... 10% discount on a meal at their restaurant, surprising thing was that you get a little as 5% discount when you pay by cash for your room;-). Friendly and concise information on arrival. Mentioned the reason for visit and receptionist quickly tailored a rough guide to Madrid to suit my needs. Breakfast service to rooms, a very good idea. The location was great! The staff was very nice and helpful, especially with our early morning flights. The free internet in the lobby of the hotel was also very good!. The hotel was very good, staff was friendly, cleanliness was excellent,in case opf need would stay again. the location was great and the room was excellent value for money. Very clean. Staff friendly and helpful--especially Warren.center of all action in the middle of old madrid. Service and location. location was great. It is litteraly right around the corner from everything you need inMadrid, Great staff, seems more like a mini hotel than a hostel. Excellent location, great price, clean rooms and nice staff. Would stay here again without hesitation. It's practically on the plaza mayor ! Cannot get a better centrallocation for tourists !. The location is perfect, the room is cute and smole, the staffwas great.. Location in the center, close to metro station, good rate, nice staff. superb location and very good price. Ideally situated to see the city. localization and price. Great reception!. Central location. Not really a negative but obviously with it's location, it is liable to be a littl bit noisy at night. Not really the place if you want a quiet escape from it all, but then neither is Madrid!. the toilet is small. The walls are quite thin and you can easily hear the oher guests. and the room is small. Noise around, but this is not possible to improve. Spot on. The garbage trucks made extremely loud noises at about 3 in the morningevery day. Beware of leaving your windows open at night. We were too cheap to spend 5 euro a night on air conditioning, so theroom got really hot. The following comments in no way compromised my experience orsatisfaction. 1. You need to know Spanish. You have to buzz in, then thefront desk is on the third floor through an anonymous staircase. 2. Thewalls have little or no acoustical isolation. You can hear adjacentsuites, and those above and below, and also street bustle, which isboisterous but friendly and wholesome. 3.As with all hostals it was difficult to find. the pillow was quite uncomfortable and some strange noises through the window from 7 am. (some builders doing something at my window all the day). The breakfast should include more variety in the breakfast. bathroom a bit to small, could have a kettle in rooms, the entrance to the building-no directions of were hostal receptions was, sound isolation of the rooms not very good. Breakfast was perhaps overpriced, although as I had a self inflicted sore head, I was not able to eat mine. Our room was right next to the reception and facing the road so it was noisy at times. Some nights the noise from the plaza was loud and lasted until 3 AM. small twin room whcih had beds together?. The map of the hotel on the website was not clear enough. It would be better to discibe the way concretly, how you get from Plaza del Sol to the hotel. I am sure it is not clear for many people. It is really really hard to find, and a taxi cannot take you there, because it is on a pedestrian street, but you willl get thereeventualy.... Also, the rooms are really small, but I was traveling withalot of luggage and it wasn't a problem. Horrible soundproofing, you can hear normal speech through the walls. Bring earplugs (good ones) and tolerance, lots of young people coming back from the disco at early am. The rooms are quite small but didnt mind as only used them forsleeping in !. The bathroom was too small. Noisy, no internet in the room, poor breakfast. the air con wasnt working. the breakfast would can to be incluid in price. The "wireless" they provided was so useless that I was not actually able to get into any website, even after 30 minutes. The room faced an airshaft. When the occupants of the other rooms came in the light was very annoying (poor curtains/shades).
