Its central and safe location. Good value for money. Also, excellent breakfast is served until 11am. Fantastic location. The staff was very nice and they gave us a Suite without extra cost.I was lucky enough to have small suite which was very nice, quiet, cooland comfortable and overlooked a nice area. It was very well situatedand all the complaints I have read about on various reviews I feel donot reflect my experience here. Very enjoyable.
all reviews » Rooms were very nice and comfortable but it should be stressed that hotel location is away from old city. Suite for the same price as a normal room, and it was a real suite. Some people may find a problem in that the lift is up about half a flight of stairs.my stay was too short but that was not the hotels fault. The air conditioner was not working. I asked the front desk and the answer was that the sistem only works during summer (Madrid was hot during my stay but it was'nt summer so...). Amazing a fine hotel like this with high prices do this.no coffee tea facilities in the room and if being realy difficult no swiming pool. I lost some keys (my fault - I left them behind in my room) and they couldn't find them. Unfortunately it was a cold week end in Madrid and the hotel's heating did not work. We felt very cold in the roo at night. No windows in room making it very dark. AC didn't work. We informed hotel staff, were told the problem was solved, but in fact it wasn't. The smell. Smells like a very old building and needed urgent restauration. A bit shabby but clean and comfortable. No free Internet, no fitness center, complicated air con control.No air conditioning in any of the bedrooms. Informed that ac is not available until the sumemer time. Temp in the room at night was over 28 degrees C. We could hear all night the elevator (lift) once it was it shared a wall with our room. We couldn't sleep specially when the other elevator broke. And when it wasn't the elevator it was people smoking and talking in the windows.it is old, a bit run down, the pipes in the bathroom stink, old and outdated furniture, poor breakfast for money. The staff at the desk were generally unhelpful and surly. Not a great way to welcome you to your hotel at all.The lamp of my bed shut down on me, one day with no more electricity, old hotel, the guy at reception did not want to give me a bill for my society. Staff not very friendly, refused entry to the bar at 11.45, Bed was very lumpy.Staff was not friendly at all. Although I told him I do not speak Spanish he went on speaking. Reception staff were not pleased to welcome guests at all.Air conditioning did not work. Not the Gran Hotel it used to be....I asked for a non smoking room and they game me a smoking one. The hotel is very old and not in good shape.
