The view from the pool deck was just fabulous. Sugarbird was cosy but I would imagine nice in the heat of summer too. The fire place was lovely as was the open communal area. I loved the inner courtyard and interior design of the refurbished house, very nicely done. Beautiful scenery, great location and nice and quiet. I had an excellent stay at Sugarbird Manor. The guesthouse offers superb views over the whole Devon Valley , rooms are very nicely decorated, staff is friendly and helpful...If you would like to enjoy the nature and quietness on the wine route , this is an excellent place to go to !.

By car: - Coming from Cape Town, follow the N2 in the direction of Somerset West. - Turn left at the Baden Powell turn-off and continue in the direction of Stellenbosch. - Follow the road past Spier and turn right at the T-junction. - Take the second road to your left - Devon Valley Road. - Continue for 5 km and turn right at the Protea Heights entrance. - Follow the signs directing you to Sugarbird Manor. - Coming from the N1, take the Stellenbosch turn-off. - Enter Stellenbosch (Bird Street) and turn right at the traffic lights (R44 junction). - Pass the railway station, cross the railway bridge and pass Distell. - After the Distell traffic lights, turn right onto Devonvalley Road. - Continue for 5 km and turn right at the Protea Heights entrance. - Follow the signs directing you to Sugarbird Manor.
