Private Villa with a beautiful view from the lounge as well as the bedroom. Huge comfortable bed and extremely spacious. The garden and surroundings are beautiful. No buffet breakfast as it was off peak but the choices given to us were great. Very quiet location in the mountains. beautiful surroundings, rooms spotlessly clean and very well designed with everything that one could need. Having breakfast on the veranda looking out at the lake and the mountains was magnificent.

The staff were friendly and helpful the cooked breakfast was good,as were the scones ,muffins size of rooms ,beds ,linen,towels. The location. The jacuzzi had algae on the filters. A real fireplace would have made it so much more cozier and romantic. We did not need the 2nd bedroom but there was some really bad damp and you could smell the damp in the room. No hot water Lights did not work Apartment very dark in the bedroom especially with 3 lights out The little pool below the apartment was dirty and unkept. Nothing. Lots of Ants. The fact that there was no restuarant open for dinner. No Internet in room. poor housekeeping unkept gardens. Could improve on the transport facilities. the open toilet ,. No one eat in restaurant which meant no atmosphere in the bar. The price no spa no gym poor water pressure and shower head paying extra for cuppacino,espresso on a full breakfast charge not being told a wedding disco would be going on till midnight under our room when we booked (at least the staff moved us immediately to another suite further away the water damage in the rooms which looks shoddy. This was a cold and empty place. Whilst all the facilities are there, it is like booking into a timeshare/residential estate that happens to have a restaurant and other forms of hotel facilities. The Japanese chef was a fraud.

By car From Cape Town International Airport: - Take the N2 in the direction of Stellenbosch. - Take the R310 (Baden Powell) turn-off and continue to Stellenbosch. - Pass through Stellenbosch and cross the Helshoogte Pass. - Turn right onto the R45 and continue through Franschoek, until you reach the Huguenot Museum - Turn left and continue for 600 metres, until you reach the Franschhoek Estate sign on your left. - Turn left again, L'ermitage is on your right-hand side. From Cape Town - Follow the N1 to Paarl. - Take the R45 (Klapmuts) turn-off and continue until you reach the Franschhoek turn-off. - Follow the R45 past various wine estates and continue in the direction of Franschhoek. - Continue through Franschhoek, until you reach the Huguenot Monument. - Turn left and continue for 600 metres, until you reach the Franschhoek Estate sign on your left. - Turn left again, you will find L'ermitage on your right-hand side.
