This is a true 5 star hotel and hard to find these days. Many others around the world claim they are and are far from it. At the Grand Continental I felt I was really being served as a guest and not passed through the doors like hundreds of others that have come before me. The beds are so comfortable I even noted down the brand of mattress. Breakfast was fantastic and served by eager attentive and friendly staff. The spa centre is 5 star with a very spacious jacuzzi and great sauna. The breakfast was fantastic and the location suburb. To be fair there really weren't any faults with this hotel. The only small thing I can say is we were informed of a computer problem the hotel were having half way through eating our breakfast, and we were told that it may be problematic to be able to pay for our meal until the system was working. They could have chosen a nicer time to tell us this and perhaps solved the problem before interrupting our meal. I think breakfast should be included. Silly "hand basin" in the bathroom" just a flat ceramic slab which cannot hold water, contemporary design gone mad and totally inappropriate for such a lovely traditional hotel. Expensive on-street parking. Staff was not friendly and helpful. Another but very tasty food in restaurant with my order. The sliding door of the toilet was not smooth. Nothing, it was perfect. Absolutly nothing!. No complaints. All was great. expensive breakfast (did not make use of it). 1) Breakfast should be in the main restaurant and not in the basement. 2) the hot water in the shower is not hot enough 3) the shower water leaks out of the shower into the bathroom. The bathroom were not very functional. Wash stand stupid modern design, shower complex and not fantastic. Coffee maker did not work, battery of remote control low. Small things, but they count. Hotel staff should make a habit of sleeping in their own rooms sometimes to find out these things. They have a beautiful restaurant, would be nice if breakfast would be served there. The hotel does not have parking arrangements. The breakfast crew are very young and need to be supervised. The glass wall door from the bathroom doesn't give a good intimate feeling. Not romantic to hear/ see inside. The breakfast is way to expensive for the boring and simple offer. Bred was old! The location of the breakfast restaurant is underground, no natural light, not a nice way to start your day. The Anthuriums plants displayed in a dark place like that can't survive ( flowering plants, they need natural light). They were old and dried. Breakfast was not what I was expecting from 5 star hotel. Good though. Gym opens relatively late at 9am. Nothing!. Parking !!. It was a bit cold in the room. We had a wonderful vication. parking. Breakfast was not what i would expect. Wireless connection in my room was nonexisting. Water in spa area and showers was really smelly. Parking fee for unattended car on street. Receptionists' outfit: not elegant if compared to the location. We arrived very late at night to find the hotel had made up a single bed room and not a double room as booked. The staff were very unfriendly and did not easily resolve the problem situation as the hotel had a function and all staff were otherwise busy. We were eventually given a smokers room which was unsatisfactory. I would not recommend this hotel nor would I stay again.
