Waow. Where to start? I could not have enough good words to describe this hotel.1. LOCATION,LOCATION, LOCATION. A few blocks from Plaza de Armas and just next to the cloister which is one of the main places of interest in Arequipa. Plenty of nice pubs and eateries in the direct surroundings, included the famous restaurant, Zig Zag nominated #1 on Tripadvisor. 2. Our room was simple but CLEAN,cosy and located in the courtyard with a small garden featuring chairs and parasols to unwind in the sun.
all reviews » The staff were very helpful and friendly. Once we had made a booking, an email was sent to me saying that an early check-in was possible if a room was availble. That day, we arrived at around 7:30a.m. after an overnight bus ride from Nazca. Though no room was available yet, we had a very clean toilet to brush our teeth and change clothes. The room that we were given later was cosy and quiet. The receptionist was helpful providing us with information about the city. Its location is good, clo. This was one of our favorite places to stay. The lady who runs it treated our family ( two adults and four kids ) as if we were her own. She let is onto our room at 7 am after a bad overnight bus ride, let my kids drink lots of tea in the front area and play with the pet tortoise, let me keep my food o. The fridge, made us a take- away breakfast for our departure at 3 am for the Colca Canyon. , and argued with the cab driver about charging us too much to take us to the bus station. The hotel is. The hotel is very close to the Plaza de Armas, and just next door to the Santa Catalina Monastery. There are two parts of the hotel, the old one in the garden (two rows of one floor buildings facing each other with the garden in the middle) and the new three storey high block in front. We had a room in the old part, very decent and nicely decorated. It's a simple hotel but it has everything it needs, warm water, comfy beds, tea and coffee at the reception, wonderful view from the top terrace, b. Great value for the money. They place is nice and clean. A portable heater was provided upon request. They go out of their way to accomodate our needs. We had to leave very early to catch our flight, they prepared a simple breakfast package for my boyfriend and I to take with us. And arranged taxi for us with no additional charge, unlike other bigger hotel chain in big city where they charge a commission just to book the taxi for us. An excellent situation behind the Monastery of Santa Catalina a short walk along a semi pedestrian street to the Plaza,in a safe area.The hostal is welcoming and has a great view from the roof terrace of Arequipa and the Volcanos behind this interesting city.The breakfast is excellent,staff friendly and speak English.I would recommend this Hostal for anyone travelling to Arequipa.It also has a lovely small back garden. Me and my friends spent two nights in this hostel. The location is perfect, staff is also nice and helpful, laundry service available. The rooms are cosy, comfortable and clean. The breakfasts were amazing! Buffet style, always fresh fruit juices (mango, maracuja, orange), bread, cookies, eggs and one day we had pancakes. The bible in the room: I respect anyone´s belief but it is not necessary to push the holy book in the rooms of your guests assuming that everyone is Christian or simply believe in God. Arequipa is cold in the winter. There is, of course, no central heating. This wasn't a fault of the hotel (at this price, no hotel has central heating) but we were cold in our spacious colonial room. Welcome a little cold at arrival. Breakfast could be earlier. Nothing, it was great. The rooms were just okay, a little dirty... I stayed in one of the rooms by the main staircase and it was very loud. It is pretty economical for the location though. If you're a solo traveler, don't expect the hostal atmosphere. Started breakfast a little late for travellers. Almost all rooms have windows into the hall and the light from the hall disturbed our sleep. All good. Nothing. Nothing, really. Wi Fi not work in room 106. Size of room, lack of light, scruffy walls. A bit noisy especially with the employees starting off their daily routine quite early. A little bit noise and the breakfast is poor.
