Very friendly stall. We rented 3 rooms for our family. The front desk staff immediately upgraded my wife and my room to a deluxe unit. We had asked for quiet rooms so when we arrived around 2 pm, we were asked if we could wait 1-hour for the requested rooms. It was no problem as we were able to put our luggage into the secure luggage room and we went out touring. The breakfast was excellent and the location could not have been better - right next to the central train station. We were only 1- ni.
all reviews » The hotel exudes old-world charm: nice wood wainscotting, lovely wood floors, and Oriental rugs. A large first floor room stays open all day with complimentary coffee, tea, and fruit and a limited menu. Breakfast is fabulous. Whimsical light fixtures in the rooms add a nice touch. A close walk to the center of town. Across the street from the train station and several blocks from the bus station. Grand Terminus is located right next to the railway station, in many cities that's a bad sign, but this is not the case in Bergen. We found it very practical as we were traveling by train from/back to Oslo. Terminus dates back from 1928 and has preserved its beautiful historical interior witch separates Terminus from the typical generic hotels. The staff was very kind and helpful. The location was excellent. We were leaving on the Norway in a Nutshell train the next day and the trail station was just across the street. The hotel design was interesting. The halls were designed to look like the inside of a train. The hotel was very nice. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The price was high but I guess all hotels in Norway are high priced. Full of character and the common areas are just so warm, welcoming and comfortable. Rooms ok, if small - seems a Norwegian feature. And so close to the fishmarket, Bryggen and the funicular - excellent location for walking to the main attractions! 12 noon checkout time was great (rather than 11 am). I really truly loved this hotel. It had the charm of a vintage inn, with all the modern amenities. This is a grand hotel with nice common areas (bar and lounge) to enjoy an afternoon drink, read, or gather with friends or other travelers. Front desk staff was very helpful and bartenders friendly. Breakfast was good and plenty of seating. As I was taking excursions that started at the train station I thought it would be a good idea to be as close to the station as possible. All you do have to do is walk across the street. Very helpful staff and a very nice breakfast setup as well. Seems to be a popular place judging by number of people in the lounge. Location is awesome. Literally across the street from the train station. This is a historical hotel, very classy, and the staff is extremelly kind. I particularly liked having fruits, tea, and coffee at my disposal anytime in the beautifully decorated bar in the lobby. Breakfast was also wonderful. The breakfast was quite boring. It offered most of the dishes you expect to find in a Norwegian hotel breakfast, but the taste was in some way absent. I liked everything. Hotel map did not make it obvious that the hotel was right by the train station (may be a google map issue but was misleading to us). Like most hotels in Bergen, Grand Terminus was pretty expensive. Rooms for singles are very small. Bathroom smelled kind of mildew-y. Norhing to complain about other than the weather. No tea making facilities. In the room, had to go to service room on another floor. Room not ready until well after 5.00 pm. Not really acceptable when arrives after a long train trip. However able to leave luggage and a hot drink was provided. that there was no air conditioning, there was no bar to help with support in the shower for those of us less able, that on one day whilst getting a slice of bread an over efficient member of staff cleared the table, including a full cup of coffee I had just fetched. There is no safe in the room, and like everything in Norway is a bit too much pricy. The sleeping room was very very smal for two persons, also was the bed (though a double one) De bathroom was also really to small, a curtain between de WC and the douche, no place to put your things. Too much money for such a small room. e should have asked for a bigger room. Thought it was going to be noisy at night with window open. Started out that way but by the time we were ready for bed the noise was about gone. There's no bar or restaurant services on a Sunday, but knowing this in advance, there's many other options close by including pizza delivery to your room. Odd setup of bathroom. Toilet too far out from wall, and bath/shower also separate from wall so water leaks all over floor. Room itself was fine, but cold air permeated through windows but closing curtains covered radiator. There is no water cook which is kind of annoying when you want to have tea yourself. Hot water didn't work for one shower. Room wasn't ready at check in. Expensive (as is all of Norway) by US standards. Loved everything. The room is not warm enough. Everything is 'Grand'!. The bathroom was tiny with very little room between the toilet and sink. For the price, the bathroom should have been more luxurious to match the rest of the hotel. Wifi didn't work well and there was no shower door so water would pool all over the bathroom. I wish I could say something bad, but, really, I stayed there for three nights and they were excellent. I thought I would scoff at the higher price, so, my expectations were high, but it was excellent. I would stay here again in a second. Norway rocks. The price, but hey, this is Norway!. Nothing. Beds could be a little firmer. Lack of tea making facilities. Lack of hair conditioner/body lotion. Room rather small though need to make allowance that this is a city centre hotel where space is at a premium. We booked two triple rooms. One was ok, the other one was just a double room with an aditional bed, much smaller than the triple room. I cannot complain about anything. Shower not to the same standard as the rest of the room!. The shower didn't work properly, which in a suite, was not acceptable. Fridge-minibar not being refilled each day :-(. Room was too small, too warm.
