I liked the location very convenient. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful when we first arrived, even offered great sight seeing options around rotorua. The rooms were well maintained and they even gave out extra pots when we needed it for cooking. Our overall experience was fantastic and will highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Rotorua. We will definitely be staying here again when we visit Rotorua again. Great stuff everyone at New Castle.
all reviews » Lovely, friendly couple who run this place. They are so passionate and knowledgeable about Rotorua and activities there. It was very clean, warm and it felt like true hospitality. It was also very quiet and private, great relaxing environment and peaceful getaway. It is also close to many of the attractions - Redwoods, Lakes and CBD in general. Would highly recommend New Castle Motor Lodge. I got lost the owners were incredibly helpful. The pillows were divine... so hard to find a place that has great pillows and plenty of them, also plenty of spareblankets for those of us who feel the cold. Thought it would be noisey as walls rather thin but was a nice quiet location and on a Friday night that is a major plus . Property was Immaculate and I would stay here again. Room clean, very spacious (large bedroom with a king size bed +kitchen corner - hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge) + walkthrough bedroom with four beds (2 singles+bunk), large bathroom with a corner spa tub. TV-set (not used it though); heating adequate. Clean. Friendly and helpful reception lady. Ample parking space. I would happily stay again. It is a very good place now owned by new owner a cute Singaporean couple who were really working hard to make the stay for their customers and they were successful in that ... Good clean place all facilities clean good and spic n span, very near the lake, the spa and eat street of rotorua, For me I will stay again if I come back to rotorua. The reception gave us an upgrade room with spa bathtub and gave us some recommendation for free attraction. The kitchen has cooktop and pot and pan so we can prepare simple meals to save money by not eating in the restaurants. The mattress has heating pad. The black velvet comforter and back pillows are nice. We got upgraded from a twin to a family room. everything you could want in a room including a spa bath. Double bed is in separate room and proper single bed in lounge so we had our own room. I was travelling from Canberra and my friend is from Aukland. Totally recommend it nice and quiet too. The office people / owners - helpful, pleasant to talk to, happy, laid back, approachable and really neat people The situation of the motel, the look, a castle look with a affordable cost......Love the whole layout of the room......the spa bath was great.... We stayed 2 nights during the Easter holidays in this nice place. It was perfect, with the room spacious and clean, and all facilities you need. Wonderful hosts as well! Great price for what it offers. Large rooms, spa bath, lots of light, a balcony, all necessary amenities and very convenient (with a car). The staff were solicitous but a bit reserved (in comparison to other motel owners on my trip). I liked every thing about the lodge friendly staff. I paid $72 for one night, Friendly staff, everything I needed in the room including iron and ironing board which a lot of Motels do not necessarily have in the room. Boon and Sharine extremely friendly and helpful. I have been traveling 2'months and they were, by far, the most helpful in terms of the internet, recommendations and accommodation. We have stayed here twice, with our 1 year old. It was very quiet and the owners are very friendly and family focussed. Love the family atmosphere, we will stay here again. It was far enough out of town to be nice and quiet, but close enough to walk . The room was a bit faded, needed a re vamp but was clean and spacious with a huge spa bath. And it was very quiet. More than enough space for two of us. The owners were so nice as soon as we got there they were willing to meet us. Easy to approach. Room was clean and tidy. Although it is in a hotel area and our maori cultural experience picked us up from there it is a fair walk to the city centre so we drove everywhere. So location is just ok, less than 5min drive though and heaps of parking :). Bed was a bit hard In need of a air conditioner. The only issue we had was that the shower curtain for the shower/ spa bath combo was too short, so the entire bathroom floor got soaked after a shower. Nothing. Wi-fi was cut off after 8am when check-out was 8 -10am. It didn't matter to me but might to some. no there is nothing i don't like every thing was Good. No issues at all. Everything was ok. Room facilities not working - could not turn spa on (had booked room specifically for spa) - phone in room wasn't working (several attempts to ring us failed as phone in room did not ring; this caused a problem as people could not reach us) - small couch or easy chair would be better option than hard chairs as nowhere to relax. Staff were friendly enough but did not make our bed during our stay. Nothing. Need to drive to get anywhere interesting. Not their fault though. Nothing. The room became extremely warm in the afternoon but was otherwise excellent. Towards edge of town but still easy access to city centre. Next to a bar. Dirty vents in bathroom and would of liked a comfy chair or 2 as dining room chairs are not comfy. The lighting was a little dim. Poor lighting in the room. A couple of the bulbs did not work and one of them flickered for a while even after turning it off. Instead of a proper bed, only a sofa bed was provided. Poor design of toilet, makes the floor all wet after shower. There was hair in spa and dirt/dust when we arrived and a couple of times when the room had been serviced. Short of dishes in the kitchen. Had now sharp knife for cooking.
