We stayed in a large room which was beautifully furnished with items of the period the boat was launched. The room was very clean and the staff were very friendly. There is also a brilliant view of the back of the boat, you can sit in the restaurant have a tasty meal then relax on recliner with a drink and watch the sunset. There is nothing bad I can say about the hotel. 2 nights on the ss Rotterdam cost less than half what a smaller less equipped room in Amsterdam cost.
all reviews » - The unique atmosphere. The ship has been nicely restored, you can feel the '60s atmosphere. - The quietness of the location. We could really relax. - Nice view of Rotterdam from the ship - Nice and helpful staff - The tour of the ship and meeting with some of the former crew. They are there pro bono and give interesting information about the days when the ship was sailing. - Nice breakfast. The comfort on a oceanliner, Old Glory. All those guest staff, The sea miles. the water taxi The beautiful skyline from deck at sunset and at night. Impressive collection of cognac. The desert, parfait de champagne mascarpone and a tarte citron was delicious!! No engines sound at night, I missed the waves..... We had a Superior Room and that was absolutely wonderful. Lots of space, very complete, clean, everything worked! Being on board this former cruise ship is absolutely sensational. It definitely is like going back to the 50's/60's. It's worth going back there for sure!. Fantastic place to stay... I was upgraded free on arrival and the cabin was superb with a touch of luxury! All of the facilities you would expect including two restaurants, bar, business ctr. and extremely welcoming staff. Would not hesitate to recommend!!. The design of the hotel, gives you the chance of having an authentic stay. Every corner of it is full of history. Hotel personels are also friendly and helpful. I felt like I'm at home. Staying on a ship, the novelty of it. The Ship.The location. value for money to stay with 70€ without breakfast.... The location is nice. - We didn't realise our room wouldn't have any window. It felt quite strange not even having a glimpse of the outside. We eventually got used to it but it could be an issue for some people. If so make sure you go for a room with a window. - The long wait for coffee and/or tea. The fact that public transport is a bit far. 20 min by foot. The mussels were cold. It would be nice when there were more costumers...... Restaurants are a little bit expensive. Mattresses a bit too soft. Restaurants quite expensive, it would be nice to see the swimming pool restored. There weren't as many things going on on the ship as I thought there would be. It was a bit quiet. There should be some entertainment as one finds in a sailing cruise ship, like a Sports bar, a Music Lounge/ Games Parlour or a Casino. Didn't see a "gym" though. Prices of food. Having an inside cabin, something I did not expect as I was looking forward to a view through a port hole. The tours were closed when I arrived and opened when I left. No safe box in room. Climbing the steps of the entrance after running the Marathon ! (joke!). The staff could do with some proper manners, same goes for the tour guides. Apart from that, no complaints. For the money just providing a single tea bag per day for two people is cheap!. Bathroom. shower very small. nothing. No windows in room (but slept like a baby so also a plus) No double mattress, so my boyfriend kept disappearing in the crack between the single mattresses. A long walk to the city centre. Breakfast: poor and no service. There is no Wi-Fi in the rooms, only cable. I'm allegic for down sheets on the bed. Understaffed at front desk. price for bikes renting in the hotel is higher than in the city centre. Expensive public parking. When we check in my card was charged by 100 euro more then was a cost of our room. Hostes on reception explain me that this is a deposit for future services (mini-bar or something) and when we will check out this deposit will be released. It's been 10 days since we come back from pur trip but I still have not received my money back. I have to write them and explaine. When we checked in the first room already had someone staying in it, the second room was inferior and had problems with the lighting and was just under the walkway onto the ship. The third room was great. Some of the Staff were quite rude and not very accommodating. We moved tables while having a drink and it caused a bit of a commotion. At Breakfast it was pure chaos, we had been given a ticket to go between 10 and 11 but there was no one there to collect it and people were standing around not knowing whether to take a seat or not, the tables were not being cleared after the last diners.For a Hotel of this class it was very poor standard of service. The lido restaurant are a bit over priced and the food was not really tasty... I ordered the tuna fish and full of oil on the top of the fish..The AC in the room was very low and I feel very hot, cant sleep almost whole night. Very loud area as u can heard all the ppls passing by at the room. One couple is having sex next to our room at 01.00 and we can heard her moaning for over half hour... how can we sleep?. The food is not that good.
