it is such a beautiful place to stay, the lovely owner has taken such care to make every detail beautifully uniqur. i like that the rooms are all individually designed. its a nice quiet place to stay, and in such a great location buried inside the old medina. the roof is a lovely place to go, and if we had more time, i would have definitely taken advantage of the calm above the bustling streets. breakfast was delicious served on the roof in the morning sun. a really lovely place, im looking for.
all reviews » If you want to immerse yourself in the local culture and people then this is for you. Right in the middle of the Medina, fabulous for shopping for ornaments, throws/blankets, cooking tagines, etc. People very friendly, but you have to barter and be prepared to say "no". If you are looking to buy something in particular, ask Rachid at the hotel; he was very helpful and actually took us shopping. Gilles, the owner very welcoming too. Would definitely go back. This oasis of calm in the hubbub of Tangier is an absolute gem. Chic and serene, you cannot fail to fall in love with this beautiful Riad. Our host, Giles and the charming Sayed could not have been more helpful, friendly and welcoming. The romance of the rooms and the magic of the ambiance are utterly enchanting. The views from the roof terrace with the mist off the sea and the calls from the mosques will be in my heart forever. The Riad is gorgeous and both the staff and owner were friendly, gracious and very helpful. We shopped in the souk for vegetables with Rachid, who then cooked us traditional excellent tagines. Breakfast was also included and excellent with fresh orange juice, fresh local fried breads, local cheese, honey, and jam. Good location although a little difficult to find (like all places in any medina), Polite staff and nice view from the rooftop over the city and harbour. Beautiful views from the terrace. Nice friendly staff and they clean the rooms and bathrooms, which is really nice when you have been outside all day. Loved the location and loved the interior design. Very nicely finished. The owner was welcoming and breakfast on the rooftop terrace excellent. In my opinion the Riat has an ok grade. It is pretty but not wonderful, the rooms are very private but they are ok, in general the house could be better if they restored it. About the staff, some of them were nicer than others. But the service was still good. The hotel itself is beautiful on the inside, with lots of tile work and artsy/antique fixtures and furniture. It has 2 rooftops with a view of the city. Staff was very friendly and helpful. location in the Medina, nice rooms with nice bathrooms. Some people may like the lean marocco decoration. The breakfast is good, the staff people are nice and the terrace is so nice too. If you want to be in the heart of the old medina, this is an ideal location. But you won't find the place yourself, and need someone to guide you there. The owner needs to either provide a guide service for guests to find the premises. There are no signs at sll, not even on the door or wall outside. A bath in the room would have been nice, instead of just a shower, but not a major problem as we were only there for one night. whats not to love?. The staff recommended the nearby restaurant "El Hammadi", which was a disappointment, unless you want to eat average Moroccan food surrounded by Europeans. It might be best to stay in a room on a higher floor. The bottom floor room had a bit of a musty smell and felt a bit damp, however they did supply a dehumidifier for this problem (which was a bit noisy, though). the door at entrance is very low! Hit my head quit hard.. a mi no me supuso un problema, pero la habitacion sin aire acondicionado en verano debe ser horrible ya que ademas no tenia ventanas a la calle. It's a pain to get to - you have to be on foot going through winding and confusing streets (really alleys, but they're all the same size). If we didn't have a tour guide we never would have found the place or gotten out of there. Staff does not speak any English or Spanish. All the rooms are around an indoor courtyard almost so it was very noisy and we heard birds all morning (early morning, like 4 am). The most expensive Riad in all our trip in Marocco, damp rooms very narrow, lack of atmosphere and working of details. We had a quarrel with the staff who promises an early (7:15 am !) breakfast but which was not served... Fortunatly the friendly night guard made some coffee for us. We strongly recommend the neighbour Riad !. The hotel is localizated in the Tanger's old town in a street hard to find at the first time and the taxi cannot access to this street. The confort is not the better and we found a cockroach. Maybe it was because it's a old building. The rial (guest house) was dark, cold, and bedrooms are around an atrium which means no privacy nor quiet with people moving around. One has to out into the medina for anything and everything, including brinkable water. My wife thought the room and bathroom unclean.
