Perfect for families with older children. We had a 3 bed premier apartment which gave a good balance of luxury and space. Really enjoyed the private Hot tub on our terrace with sea view. Apartments very well equipped. Staff very helpful, maid service excellent - good to be able to choose level of service required. Indigo Beach Club provided free towels, sun loungers and umbrellas - excellent service, friendly staff and good food at reasonable prices served all day. We particularly enjoyed.
all reviews » We reserved a 3-bedroom penthouse for our group of 6 persons and loved it! The apartment is very spacious, comfort and well decorated, and provides everything you need for a long-stay at the beach. The location is very good as well, next to the 5th avenue, restaurantes and the main beach clubs. staff was very friendly, quality on the hotel is very good, good cleaning of rooms very nice beach. lot of good resturants near by. you can also do a lot of trips to historic maya places. I have nothing to complain about the hotel itself, we was both very satisfied about our stay. Loved everything about our stay here. Great value for money, we stayed in a 2 bedroom spacious apartment which came with a full kitchen that proved very handy. Location is perfect, beach front & close to 5th Ave for dining & shopping!. Because of its proximity to bars and clubs it could be noisy sometimes - it only disturbed us one night and we were aware of this before we booked so not a problem for us but might be for some. One other really small thing - it would be nice to have a wall mounted magnifying mirror in bathrooms. We had some trouble with the air-con in one of the rooms of our first penthouse, but we were promptly moved to other unit without extra cost. little noisy from nearby discos during night time. There was nothing to dislike or unlikeable about El Taj. Everything was perfect. The night clubs at the end of the street start at 9:00 pm and end around 6:00 am every day. They are loud but the rooms seem to keep the noise out. The noise from the clubs goes til 5am!!! I am a light sleeper and it bothered me, however no one else in my group was bothered by it. The beach in front of El Taj Hotel is not very good: a lot of boats, quite often there was bad smell from algae or waste water system... We went to Mamitas beach which was much better. That there were fishing boats docked in the water directly in front of the beach. Swimming accessibility was very poor. Didn't like bugs on food at Beach Club breakfast so didn't go back there - used Imprevist instead. Mosquitos were a real problem and would have like coils or something to keep them out of rooms. Great beach, but access to water difficult due to anchored boats to shore. This is not a bad thing of the hotel but of whole Playa del Carmen and is that everyone ask you tip for everything and some times, if you don't pay the exact amount of money, they assume that the rest is tip. The nightclubs were to noisy!. Ocean had seaweed and many boats blocked your ability to easily.access water. Nightlife of Playa del Carmen is just around the corner, so if you're not a good sleeper, you might need earplugs. the beach was durty and the pools a bit small. The private beach is not nice since it's filled with boats. Beach wasn't the best. Would not recommend staying here with small children. When you travel all the way to Mexico, You would love to see the ocean from your window :) Now there was only view to inner court and pool. But you can enjoy the privacy and the music from the street bars will not bother in the nights :).
