We stayed at the Cameron Highlands Resort in Tanah Rata for 3 night in the month of September 2013. The hotel is part of the “Small and Luxury Hotels of the World” association. It’s located at around 2 km from Tanah Rata. If you wish you can walk from the hotel to Tanah Rata. In that case count on a 20 to 30 minute leisurely walk. The walk does take you along the side of a busy road so don’t expect quiet and tranquility but it is a walk everyone in a reasonable state of health can underta.
all reviews » My family loved this hotel located beside the golf course.The staff from manager to receptionists to the luggage handlers are very gentle and helpful which often lack in other hotels. It has a nice ambiance and attractive interior decorating.The room was very spacious and clean.The balcony has a amazing view with the golf course on the front.Some people complaint about the traffic passing by but we didn't feel any difficulty getting a cozy and comfortable sleep. Overall service was amazing.Really love the hotel and i dare say it's the best there is in Cameron Highland. A perfect getaway for my father as the golf course is right across while me and my mother could just whiz around to the tea plantation, fruit market and around town. Really love the freshness of the room, well kept and not damp/musty as most accomodation in Cameron. View from the balcony is breathtaking as you can see the greens. The room was nice, despite the strong lacquer smell of the floor. Checking in & out were smooth. No need to stand in front of the counter and wait for the staff to prepare the documents. We were asked to take our seats first and were then provided glasses of nice cold tea (chrysanthemum, I believe). Such small gestures that added to the comfortable luxury. We arrived late in the night and I am glad that the staff were very helpful upon arrival. I like th old colonial decor and the suite we had was lovely! My daughter likes the poster bed so much that she fell asleep staring at the drape hanging above the bed. I thought it was so cute!. Strictly this hotel is a 5star hotel. Very clean rooms and common areas, friendly and helpfull staff. Good location.we had booked junior suit room , because of avability hotel provide us bigger room than junior suit. I was a great gesture. The hotel is very beautiful. Staff are friendly. The breakfast is a must have. Its delicious n breakfast is served at your table. Love the breakfast. Fantastic staff and location, the hotel is in an old british stile building which makes it very nice Best breakfast ever had (ask for the strawberry waffle!). Rooms were clean and well spaced. There is a steamboat restaurant in the hotel which is good and to be experienced with the family. Jungle trekking was also nice. Here and there in the rooms (but also in the public spaces) wear and tear started to show (scratched parquet, smudges on the throw pillows in the sofas,...). Another minus was the absence of wifi in the rooms. Breakfast was fresh but lack variety.No lift was available and have to use stairs only. Breakfast was colourful, however may need more improvement in term of taste. And yes a bit noisy due to the location of the hotel at the main road. However if you are from kl/big cities its quite normal. Hopefuly the pianist is available next time. The limited breakfast selection. The noodle tasted bland. Would be better if we were given a few other options like some local food, not 100% English breakfast. The steaks during dinner at the same venue were also not satisfactory, despite the prices. The noise from the main road is something that needs to be fix. The management should consider investing in double glazed windows/doors to reduce the noise. Breakfast and dinner was good but menu limited. Noise from vehicles passing by, our room was close to the main road. The library is very limited. High level of road traffic noise continuing througout the night. Such a pity as this for us is the only downside to an otherwise excellent stay. Quite expensive compared to other solutions. The location, next to a really, really, really noisy road and the rooms do not have double glazing, so you could hear every last motorbike roaring past. The balcony opens onto the road so you would never sit on it. It was very noisy from the road. With the hotel overlooking the road, you can hear the cars / lorries driving by during the day & at night. Double glazing?. Traffic noise; the hotel faces right on to a surprisingly busy main road. The management knows about this and hopefully some sound insulation will be feasible in the future. There was massive construction - extremely noisy and dusty - in the lobby of which we were not notified in advance of our stay. If parts of the hotel cannot be used then guests must be warned or rooms must at least be discounted; there was a blackout and the hotel was not prepared at all - did not even have a flash light! I encountered 4 cockroaches in our room over a 2 night stay - absolutely unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. To leave!. Shame there wasn't a pool or garden to relax in, though we did have balcony. Also evening meals only formal al a carte quite rich would have preferred option for lighter bar type meal.Stayed 3 days but think 2 days sufficient. On a lot of the walking route piles of rubbish everywhere. much noise in the bedrooms because the road which is in front of the hotel is very busy. road to the Cameron Highlands was dangers and unpleasant. Occasional loud exhaust from traffic can be heard as it is just along the main road. Drive through shelter is too short, driver side is exposed to the rain. the sound from outside the road..when sleeping time...outside sound was very annoying n disturbing ..n make us sleep nt well. should have more breakfast choice. better buffet rather than made to order. Breakfast, No local cuisine, slow service probably due to shortage of manpower, expensive food, Though we booked well in advance and the booking confirmation said golf course view, the view was obstructed and only partial. Breakfast was disappointing. No choice of bread. Very limited choice of food. The 11am checkout time felt like a ripoff! We had to make sure we woke up early, rush through breakfast and get packing! For the price we paid for the accommodation they should at least have a noon checkout time like other hotels. Gym is open concept and there are quite alot of mosquitoes around the gym area. Noisy traffic no Internet in rooms food very expinsve. Proximity to noisy main road for rooms facing the road. Expensive and disappointing evening meal, comment made to staff regarding main course, but no response or concern that we hadn´t enjoyed it. The way it's very far. View room was booked deducted the entire amount before coming two days and when presented to the hotel lived in non-room overlooking I did not calculate the price difference Kindly inform me. except the room is big with living room but there is no separate door between bedroom and living room. Lack of internet in the room. Door found unlocked after maid doing bed. het eten was zeer slecht, het personeel sprak slecht engels, zodat ze onze vraag niet begrepen wat bij het ontbijt inbegrepen was en wat voor eigen kosten kwam. The restaurant took ages till we get our dinner served, we waited for an hour after placing the order. And I recognize we were not the only ones with the problem. Our neighbors had the same too. noisy traffic outside window front steps dining room too formal - no alternative dining. We had to wait for one hour to get the room. No free internet connection in rooms. Too expensive for services. They start cleaning the rooms after we go back to hotel first time at 6pm and second time at 3pm!!! also I don't like their cleaning. Also there is no open buffet there is a menu with limited choices of eggs and waffle only and you have to chose from them. also there is no elevator or slope for baby trolley or disabled people to rooms or from street to entrance. food so expencive my resrvation for 2 person with break fast included but they chareg me 83 rm for my sun 12 year oled ,the major probem that i could not sleep due to nosi sound coming from car moving in the road even the single class window are closed. I reached the hotel@ 2 pm but the reception refuse to give me the room before the check time @ 3pm although I have kids & my baby. It was very rowdy way. The photos in letsbookhotel.com doesn’t reflect the fact, because no outside garden or landscape or anything. Only you have to take taxi to go out for farms or green area which is very bad because you have to stay only in your room or in the lobby break fast is set menue, no open buffet. The room was unclean and everything was dusty. Full of insects and flies. it was by far the worst hotel I have ever been to. The breakfast menu was awful. 5 stars rating is misleading and not real. It is not even close to 4 stras!.
