The staff at the check-in were extremely helpful, and rearranged my booking (as I'd travelled overland from Dar-es-salaam rather than by air..due to JKIA fire). The food was excellent, the pool wonderful, and all in all I was impressed. The club rooms are spacious and the showers excellent. The hotel is nice, the rooms are comfortable and the quality of the food is really good. The personnel in the different areas in general is polite and professional.
all reviews » I loved the African wildlife from the balcony window. The construction site is a bit dusty and unseemly but overall the stay was very pleasant. The fact that I had included breakfast on my original booking and that this was not carried over to the new booking. Breakfast at the Ole Sereni is not cheap! Also...curiously, there was no USB charging point on the TV or phone. I was in the fourth floor. I think the isolation of the room from the noise in the corridor is not satisfactory and needs improvement. Unfortunately most of the customers are not educated and don't understand that they should shut their mouth when walking in the corridors. That's why the overall isolation should be improved. Very slow check out and a pre-booked airport transfer being 'forgotten'. Long wait to get served rooms a little tired. - Room service menu limited - Kitchen shuts too early in the main restaurant, due to which menu is again limited - Design of bar area in room and the wall table/chair adjoining create a bottle neck/ restriction of easy movement between the bathroom area and the bed area, leading to stubbed toes !. Air conditioning was too noisy. Small rooms. Noisy, bad acoustics, You hear every sound from the next rooms and from outside. internet speed loud music / broken equipment in gym. They seemed to put me in a smoking room without informing me before and 'weren't able' to change the room. I stay at this hotel about once a month when transiting through Nairobi and this is the first time this has happened - annoying, nevertheless. I was charged for the room twice and now I have to try and get a refund. Its super convenient and easy, particularly on short, transits through Nairobi because of the proximity to the airport. Restaurant/Bar areas are also good for working dinners and quick meetings. But it's a bit expensive for what you get compared to other parts of Kenya/Nairobi - clearly paying for convenience. Didn't see ant animals. Expensive, noisy and keys don't work. The restuarant service is poor and needs to improve. The breakfast is far too expensive even for a 5-star hotel. The check out time of 10 am is ridiculous. The hotel will charge you a half days fee for a late check-out. The hotel is full of airline staff and the ba air crew partied until the small hoursevident by the noise which very evident in the hotel. The pool. Is tiny and should not be mistaken for the quoted Spa facility. Finaly the rooms are a little small and the decor is tired. My wife was electricuted by the hairdryer in the room. The manager who, albeit very concerned over this, offered a 15% discount on the night rate which is assessed as a little high anyway. Not good. Food served in restaurants is disappointing. A bit noisy, for example will hear the door to main corridor closing etc. Door keys kept failing. the staff- they are very un flexible. Not really efficient. Staff not supper friendly. Took really long to be served in restaurant and bar. Not good value for money paid. Place really expensive. Sarova Stanley is cheaper and with better Service. The rates charged are far far too high for a hotel that as not evening got a bathroom in your room. The sink is just there and the toilet and the shower/bathtub are just behind a glass division.
