This was the second time I chose this hotel. I couldn't find any other hotel that can fit my requirements. The hotel is within a walking distant to a JR station (Ueno), making it really easy to navigate around Tokyo. The JR Ueno Station has adequate escalators and elevators for heavy luggage. The hotel also is just 200m away from a subway station (use this subway station if you want to go to the Sky Tree). There are a lot of convenience stores around the hotel. This hotel also gives free wifi .
all reviews » Oak hotel is the best hotel in Tokyo if you do not want to pay much money but have a nice room to stay in. Compared to other hotels, this one is the cheapest and gives the best service. When we got into the room it was heated for us because it was very cold that day. Also, every day you get clean towels, toothbrushes, shaving materials, soap, shampoo, etc. Also you room gets cleaned every day. When we left the hotel we were able to store our lugage at the hotel in a locked room so we could tr. I've stayed in this hotel a couple of times before mainly due to the price and location. With a short walk to ueno a short walk to Asakusa (Temples) and easy access to the Ginza line, I find this hotel very convienient and with a great price. Staff are always very helpful and friendly and overall it's a good, clean basic hotel in Tokyo. The rooms are a little cramped for two people and you will keep bumping into each other. I wouldn't recommend 2 friends book a double and share as you may end u. My stay at the Oak Hotel couldn't have been better. I had the privilege of spending the day with some of their staff for a day trip they put on and I can honestly say that they are a great group of genuine people. They were always helpful and friendly, gave me recommendations of where to eat and visit, and even helped me with a laugh when I locked myself out of my room (long story). For the price, the free wifi in the rooms (I was on the 5th floor and it was super strong), and location near Uen. The staff was extremely nice and helpful we highly recommend this hotel for their kindness. The rooms are small but you have enough space for 2 people and it is comfortable enough. The hotel rent bikes for 500 yen a day which is a super deal and allows to discover Asakusa and Ueno neighborhood easily (riding in Ueno park when it is a sunny day is just a wonderful experience!). It was a great price, room was larger then alot of Tokyo hotels, free wifi in all the rooms and short walk from Ueno station with direct access to Narita. Also a 15 min walk to Asakusa Sensō- ji Temple and 2 mins from Inaricho metro (Ginza Line). Next time I visit Tokyo, I will stay here again and recommend to firends. This is an excellent budget place to stay in Tokyo. The location is perfect - close to Ueno station and easy to get anywhere. Staff speak excellent English and are super friendly. Our double room was small but not too small - I took a peak in a twin room which was a bit bigger. Wifi was fast and strong the entire time. Room was serviced daily and was very clean every time. The bicycle rental service is reasonable and good to move around the nearby ueno park, a number of museums, sensoji temple , etc. The location is relatively close to ueno train station. It is quite far by walking and if you are carrying big luggages, but you can take the ginza subway which is a station away to ueno. The free wifi and computers are very useful. Either catch a taxi from Ueno Station, (bring your letsbookhotel.com printout to show the driver) or get off at Inaricho and walk straight for about 3 minutes. I stayed in the private double room. I do think it was good value for money though, especially in Tokyo. It may be a bit hard to find. The bathroom is extremely small. None. Nothing really, not the easiest to find, but can't find a single fault other than that. The room is very small, just fit for two people. It's not suit for traveller with big luggage. Bed mattress was too hard for my liking. Couldn't sleep comfortably, had to adjust positioning numerous times before falling asleep. Body would ache in the next morning. The bathroom was a little dated. Maybe the noise of air conditioning? I recommend you to always travel with stoppers. The pillows were quite firm - too firm, and the wifi can be very spotty. the room was small, you did not want to spend much time inside because of the size. Bit noisy, bathroom was a bit smelly in the beginning but that was easily solved by leaving the lights (and therefore the ventilation) on fulltime. Rooms are quite small, just fit for exact two people. There is a coin washer and dryer. The washer is okay but the dryer is awful. It takes hours to dry your clothes even if you only put in a few items. The small double room is really tiny without even a cupboard or little wardrobe, only two drawers under the bed. Was OK for 3 days but would be challenging to stay for longer. Sort of Hard to find. It is not on the Askusa Dori, but set back but still faces Askusa Dori. If I had know this would have been easier to find. Room was very small, which was made even smaller with two suitcases and two small rucsacs. Also had to duck when taking a shower as the celing above the shower was very low. If you walk from Ueno station, it's quite far so you have to go to Inarichō Station (稲荷町駅, Inarichō-eki).This hotel is near this station. The room may be small for European. In the other hand,It's okay for small Asean. The blanket they used was a bit cold for autumn/winter (cotton) Just remember to turn up the heater when ur in the room. Everything was still fine. The internet connections in the rooms were too weak and at times did not work. I had to use the lobby to get a good connection. Found some stranger's hair left after housekeeping came clean the room... My room hasn't a good cellphone signal reception. Nothing. Bed was a little stiff. I love a firm bed, the wife does not. I had to find something negative and even this was a stretch. The smoking area was in front and in everyones way. Most of the rooms are dark; bathroom very small.
