  Everyone was extremely friendly just as expected from true Japanese place. A person from the ryokan met us halfway from the station, showed the way and helped with the luggage, though we have not even told ryokan about the time we plan to arrive! I believe those guys patrol the area each time a train arrives just in case. One of our group was a ve... what people say » geterian, we've told about it beforehand and although Japanese cuisine cannot be adapted to vegeterians, their chef did all he could with the dinner.A - I have been to japan 47 times and I really loved staying at this hotel. We had 4 nights at half board (meaning breakfast and dinner is included in the price) The staff were really friendly and not afraid to engage with us even though we had little Japanese and their English was mostly job specific. Our room was Japanese tatami mats and really big. The beds were put out at night while we had dinner. The food at breakfast and dinner was totally awesome and very Japanese with sashimi and sukiyaki

  As soon as I stepped into the Hotel I was amazed by the decor and traditional interior design. A staff member said I couldn't check in before 3pm (it was 12.30pm) but he said I could leave my bag there. So I left the building and went for my excursion to the Shirakawa-Go Unesco Village and came back around 7pm and he kindly checked me in. Awesome ... what people say » stay. The private onsen was incredible and clean. WOW I will be back - I really like the onsen in Takayama Ouan. They have 3 private onsen to choose. So if you don't want to go to public onsen they've other option. The breakfast is great and a lot of choices. My family really enjoyed the breakfast. Location is good also close to the train station. You can just walked for 5 minutes to the hotel from the station.

  Very welcoming staff. Felt like an authentic experience. Nice traditionnal home. Excellent Japanese breakfast. This ryokan caters to Japanese tourists as well, not only westerners, which we liked. - * helpful and patient staff * excellent room * the japanese bath * great welcome.

  Beautiful atmosphere. Authentic traditional as opposed to modern renovation to look traditional, so don't expect top o' the range furnishings. Bonus wifi in our room because our room was over the lobby's free wifi.website says no internet avail but they now provide a laptop in a side room for free use and free wifi in the lobby. Felt real special as they display your name on the board out the - The reception staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. The Japanese style breakfast was delicious. The restaurant staff excellent. Location great for easy walking distance to sightseeing attractions restaurants and shopping including the morning market by the bridge. Japanese style Bath/Spa is excellent. Taking off our shoes and using hotel slippers everywhere you walk inside the hotel. Our two pieces of luggage were carried up to the 3rd floor for check-in and picked up for check-out.

  Great location- only a short walk to the old town and morning markets. Plenty of great places to eat in the surrounding streets. The onsen on site was a real treat! And it was nice to use their sister hotel's onsens which are walking distance from the ryokan. We loved the service. We were served green tea and local Hida beef jerky on arrival. We didn't have dinner b - The staff is nice and friendly. There was a receptionist that worked during the evening hours, her English was good and she was really helpful! Whenever I had a question or needed something she would even go out of her way to help me.

  We really enjoyed our stay, since it was our first time in a Ryokan, we were very happy that one of the staff members could speak english and explain the basic rules that we have to follow when staying in a traditional japanese Ryokan. Also the image with the instructions of how to wear the Yukata were very nice for us. And also the use of the ons... what people say » en was explained very well (also in the Onsen). I can recommand this Ryokan to visitors that haven't been at a Ryokan, because it was a very enjoyable - The housekeeper lady was extremely warm, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the city and the attractions. She made you feel very at home. My family and I stayed in Japan for 7 years as the company country president and I aware of what is good standard in Japan.
