The Front Desk staff were very courteous and helpful, especially on my group's check-out day. We had a group of 16 adults with 16 bags and had to transfer to Shin-Osaka to catch our bullet train to Nagoya. I believe his name was Mr. Sakaguchi who called for a quotation for 2 jumbo taxis. The quotation was very reasonable (a little over 6,000 yen per jumbo taxi) and they were able to arrange for pick-up at the front entrance to the hotel! If a bus picks us up, it would have to be on one of the m.
all reviews » Right in the middle of everything - we called it "Crazy Street" - bright flashing lights, very noisy but hotel has lovely quiet rooms with friendly service. Heaps of food places of all price ranges and good shopping especially at Namba Walks shopping area near trains. Taking Exit b21 was very easy to find the hotel. Interesting quiet areas nearby. Easy to catch trains everywhere including Kansai International. Never seen so many young people as at Dotonbori area both day and night. Hotel is an . Great value for money & in the perfect busy Namba center. You are in the heart of all the action when you step out the door of this hotel, making it easy for some great shopping, food & metro close by to travel around osaka. Although it is in a very busy & all night action packed area once you are in your room it is nice you quite which is perfect for a good night rest. LOVED THIS HOTEL. Our room was totally quiet, as requested with good block-out curtains and an excellent king-size bed.Very comfortable room and good wi-fi. Staff were very helpful and did everything they could to meet our needs, including early check-in. Once outside, there's lots of activity and great places to eat and shop. Access to the gigantic subway system is via escalator, 2 minutes from the hotel. The room was a standard queen which had plenty of space and it had a little couch which was a very nice change from the single desk chair at other hotels. We had very comfortable pillows. It is located strategically at the Namba area for those who wish to eat and shop near to Dotonbori street and Shinsaibashi area. The convenient location close to exit 21B on Namba Walk from Namba ststaion made this the perfect location in Osaka for our travels. All the excitement, food and action of Namba and Dotonbori are within very easy walking distance. After getting used to small size rooms in Tokyo and Kyoto, we have been positievly suprised by large room of the Namba Oriental. Conviently located at Namba hub, easy to roam around and reach KIX by Namba express train. Location was great, right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of a covered mall. Once inside the room, you can't hear any of this. Shower was good. Room was surprisingly spacious for Japan, even included a couch. But once you entered the hotel, it was all quiet and serene and no noise (which was very loud) from outside filtered in. Clean, more space than other Japanese rooms. The location, clean, the staff very polite. This is for the hotel only: One of my clients (a retired electrician), informed me that the electrical wiring behind the night stand was exposed (a potentially dangerous situation) and should be corrected. He stayed in Room 610. I will appreciate receiving a follow-up on this since I want to bring future groups to this hotel. Smell of smoke in lifts rising from lower levels. Hotel lobby is on 3rd floor and is fine though. Lobby had a smell which was a little smoky. The hotel was initially hard to find and at the opposite end of Namba station complex to the JR Namba station. ( We had a JR pass, which seems to be fairly useless for urban travel ).It was relatively expensive, but maybe we just didn't get a good deal. A little bit of a walk from JR Namba Station - about 15 minutes. Couldn't get the wifi to work as the security settings blocked internet access but the LAN cable worked fine for the internet just couldn't use the tablet. Lack of wifi (wireless) Internet service in the room. There are only wireless connection in the lobby (inconvenience) and wired connection in the room, but too bad, for travelers like us, we never have a laptop with us. Only negative point I would mention is lack of wireless internet access in the room. Internet in the room was a wired one, which is useless for a smartphone or tablet. You can get a wifi router from reception and install it yourself, whicj is too much hassle. The smell of smoke that wafts through the lobby is really off-putting. No wi-fi, not even in the lobby. Smoke in elevator is mild cause of the pachinko parlor at lower ground. But the smell does not get to upper floors. Like all hotels we stayed in only a doona in hot weather. Needed a sheet or light blanket. Tricky to first locate as in an arcade. Walkway from main road to hotel on Friday nights may be a little bit chaotic for families with small children and older guests. They charge for early check-in. The checkout time 10am was too early and the check-in time of 3pm was very late. nothing. Elivator is so cloudy due to smoke. Wifi didn't work (no wifi in rooms), couldn't drink coffee in garden, no channels apart from Japanese. If I have to pick one: the smell in the lift isn't very fresh :-). Hotel was a bit shabby, worn and smell of cigarette smoke prevailed in lower floors. Upper floors were decent. Some staff are not very friendly. The card access at the lift lobby. The gates do not close automatically after one guest has passed through and since the lifts do not require the guest card, anyone could slip in unnoticed. Front desk staff; poor language skills and very confused, calling for ck-out even though room was booked for late ck-out (and then forgot to charge for late ck out. We had to remind them) Not very professional. Somewhat challenging to find as entrance is a small revolving door leading into a food gallery and you have to take a lift up to a higher floor to the hotel lobby. nothing. we have two free bottle of water in first two days, but don't know why not have for last day. Not easy to find the hotel. cigarette smoke coming through with air conditioning unit all through night. room tooooo hot, struggled to change temperature. Smell of smoke in the lobby and the elevator. a bit expensive at weekends. Taking the lift to the 3th floor lobby. Even non- smoking room has smoke smells. Bad smell on the first elevator to the lobby. Free wi-fi should be provided also in the rooms and not only in the lobby. no wifi. no wifi. Nothing. Everything was ok. Compare to other city in Japan, Namba hotel staff was less helpfull. I say this in Japanese definition because other staff in other hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. So it was okay in an internation standard but rather reserve by Japanese standard. Hard to find. Taxi had to leave us on nearest street. Hotel in crowded alley. The room is too small, the staff doesn't speak English.
